Has anyone done this?

how did you weld the angle to the pinch seam. Were you able to run a bead onlong the top or did you still have to weld overhead? Rosettes?

Or did you weld the angle to the tube first and then stick in in there.

Fore Wheeler,
I can see the pics on my home pc...strange.
Anyway....nice job! That's pretty much what I'm going to do as well.
How long did it take you?
Bill

We used 3x6 on mine and the 6" wide sticks out wonderfully to protect the doors. I can rub on a tree/rock without it getting near the door panels.

first off, understand that I don't weld, a buddy of mine did.

it took about 1 1/2 hr per side to do the welding, and a hour or so to cut the old rockers off, I just came back in from painting them and that took longer than the rest of the process.

I/we welded the angle on first to be able to set the tubing where I wanted, then we/he welded the tube to the angle/body. Yes, there was a considerable amount of over head welding.

I am a newbie welder & Jeeper, so it's sounds like I better set a side a couple weekends. I like the idea of the angle iron first then adjusting the tube to suit the taper of the XJ..........looks good & seems pretty straight forward
