Guy throws shoe at Bush

I'm sure Obama supporters rise up to defend him, but I didnt accuse you of doing that.

The whoile thing started when I jokingly make a sarcastic comment on how if the same comments were made about Obama, the thread would get locked.

I never called for Obama to get assasinated and besides the wildflower I never called for him to be hurt either. I personally wouldnt wish harm upon any person, unless they were a rapist, child mollester, murder and the like.

I hope Obama is able to live up to the high standards he has set for himself, if it means anything.

Man you're thick. It has nothing to do with you being a Republican.

Do you really think that there's a hint of truth about Obama's neophytes rising up to defend regardless of the accusation or the validity of such statements IN this forum and club?! If that's the case, you're much thicker than I've anticipated. I think that the people that get irritated and raise a shit storm when you and others make stupid statements or call for Obama to be assassinated are simply much less extremist than you or maybe they practice more critical thinking. But that's what you get when you're just a mouth piece for Mr. Hannity, O'Rielly, Limbaugh. . . . I don't see these political issues as black and white. I don't believe that many of us do see these political issues as black and white. Unless, it's the 2nd Amendment, but that's another thread.

Like I said before, I voted for the person whom I thought would do the best job this time around, and that happened to not be Obama. SO accusing me of being an Obama supporter is kind of pointless.

Assassination, racist jokes are offensive and can be considered illegal activities under certain legal lens. They also put our club in a bad light when looked upon by an outsider. And frankly, anyone that would want to join our club because of said subject matter, I wouldn't want joining our club. I would take issue if a fellow club member began seriously talking about how Bush needs to be murdered (sure impeach him, charge him with what ever but do it legal and be sure that the charges are real and not imagined). But that's not the case around here.

Thats my original point, I just made it more sarcastic, glad someone is able to make it clear...
I don't listen to/watch any of the above mentioned people, but I gotta say, my first thought when people first said, "Too bad it didn't hit him" was, wait, they don't anyone making threats/wishing harm upon Obama, yet they can wish for Bush to get pegged with a shoe to the face? Not everyone was talking about Obama dying, some just wanted him hurt. I think that's stupid. I also think it's stupid to wish for a flying shoe to hit the current president. I don't think anyone here is arguing for being allowed to talk about assassinations or anything. Just looking for some parity. If it's wrong to hope for one to be hurt, why not both? If its only wrong to hope for death but ok to hope for injury, where do we draw the line? I'm not even saying the mods should step in, it just seems a bit off that someone says how it's a bit wrong to wish harm on someone just cuz you don't like em, and rather than the chorus of agreement with Obama, you're saying to quit whining :dunno:

Cool. Thanks for clarifying yourself.

if he even attempted that towards saddam he would be tortured and executed no doubt... the only reason these people are allowed to do this kind of thing is our actions in the war and getting saddamn out of there... remember all of them hitting the statue with their shoes??

the people over there are ungrateful scum, and i dont care what you preach or where you stand, he is our president still and it is very disrespectful to us as a nation.

Funny! I actually baked a bunch of chocolate chip cookies last night. :D

Thanks for having a sense of humor! :)
Piss on the humor. Where the hell is my cookie?:chef: Sorry pee on the humor, where the heck is my cookie. PC baby.

Bush should have smiled and said "you're welcome" after the guy threw the shoes at him.

All I can say is that it is one of the few times I've been proud of the way Bush handled himself, he is my President after all. He did a good job of handling a very bad public situation with tact and humility. He gained some points in my book.

73 Virgins. :wave1:
73 virgins shoes...

If I had been there I would have beat the guy. No one attacks my president. Even if it were Clinton, or Obama (ok I wouldn't have hit him as hard for those guys...)

That is disrespectful to the man that represents my country and me!

"Thank you, but these aren't my size. They are too small."

No, you're welcome. As in the guy throwing the shoes at Bush was him thanking Bush for giving him the ability to throw shoes at a world leader and not end up dead, with his wife raped and his sons in slavery.

somethin happeded to the guy he now has a broken arm and stuff

OMG! It wasn't his throwing arm was it!?!?!? Will he be out for the rest of the season? :roflmao:

Oh and for the record, I listen/watch to Limbaugh, Hanity, Oreily, Ingrim(sp?). I agree with most of what they say/think but not all. As for being a clone (as in not thinking for one's self), well aren't we all a product of what people have told/taught/shown us all our lives? What you CHOOSE to take a position on is thinking for yourself. There are very few, if any, original ideas.

Many times people will "attack" you on irreverent issues to control the conversation. Stand your ground and repeat your point if necessary. It is akin to having an argument when you are 6 years old. Eventually someone is going to call you fat, stupid, etc... It has nothing to do with the argument, they just ran out of things to say.

Personally, I think it's the difference between listening to a political pundit, and then formulating your own opinion vs listening to a political pundit and simply repeating what he or she said.

Same thing goes for the twits in college that think that reading a text book gives them all the answers to every social problem we have. Critical thinking is missing from the equation.

I try to expose myself to more than one opinion. I try and understand the differing viewpoints out there. And since I do try and expose myself to those differing views and voices, it's pretty easy to recognize when someone is simply repeating talking points.

Points taken, thanks for the clarification.

No problem. I can be very caustic and condescending from time to time. Not exactly one of my better traits and you're more than free to call me on it when I'm being a dick. :)

It's great having people agree with what you have to say, but you learn so much more when you argue with someone that has a vastly different viewpoint.

I'm always willing to learn something new, and I like to think that is my main reason for arguing a point.

I try not to be caustic, but it comes to me so naturally!
