Finally! i have a tow rig and trailer. I sold my Commander and bought this 99 Super Duty, 85k original miles!, 7.3, XLT, 4wd, power everything, air bags, goose neck hitch. its got it! It needs two front tires and the OD switch fixed, no big deal, its clean! The trailer is a Crossmark 18-2, 7k

The man I bought it from was a local Mack mechanic. Very meticulous on the care of this truck. Note the "MACK" bulldog on the hood!

Ahh I see that now, looks like you did good!!! She should serve you well, and shouldn't have a single problem towing that Jeep

Have you seen the rest of his stuff? It will get better maintenance than any other 7.3 out there

Good deal. Thats a nice truck especially with that mileage

Thank You Doug!

I love driving it and I get more compliments with this old truck than I did in my Commander. It gets better mileage in town than the Hemi Commander got on the highway. I'm getting 16 right now.

Ouch! I thought they got close to 20? I get 15/16 around town in my 09 F150 gas job. I still would like to see a F150 Diesel. I would be interested what you get towing your trail rig with it.

Back when I sold my boat the guy that came to look at buying it came down my drive way in a Audi A4. Naturally, I figured he had just come to look at it. He said he'd take it, flipped up his license plate, stuck a hitch in the receiver, hooked the boat up to it and drove off.

Solid! Please tell me you have pictures of that, that sounds awesome

You take a picture of everything, except that? Lol

Awesome set up! How did the commander do towing? My mom has one with the 4.7. towing package and all that jazz. Thinking about setting up my brake controller in there.

My XK was a Hemi and it was a beast! That 5.7 would tow a house. The 4.7 is not a great engine but should get the job done. Get a equalizing hitch and a sway control bar and you will be fine. I use a Prodigy controller. It fits right into the small pocket above the drivers left knee and the green wire for the brakes is right there too.

The Hemi got 11mpg towing 70 on the highway. Single digits in the mountain roads.

Looks nice, I just picked up a early 99 F350 myself. Yours looks clean!

Buddy of mine pulled his bass boat with a Olds Aurora. He got 20 MPG with the A/C on pulling the boat, I saw it verified myself. Got some looks at the ramp for sure.

No self respecting redneck here in the south would pull a bass boat with a olds aurora LOL!

I was worried about the weight of a similar trailer to yours plus the Jeep being a bit much for the XK compared to the truck I normally use. I will look into it some more, thanks!

Wow something may be amiss there. Maybe the overdrive isn't working? My '99 got 22 hwy, and that was a crew cab, long bed dually 4wd, but it did have the ZF 6 speed manual. I also drafted a lot of big rigs and kept it under 2,000 RPM to stay out of the boost (that helps a LOT). Great looking truck. I regret selling mine!
