hey guys,

basically looking for an all terrain type tire for my moms dodge durango that will wear good, provide good all weather traction (lots of rain here), and look decent as well.

what tires have you had that you like? i was looking at the bfg long terrain or bfg land terrain, but all opinions are welcome. thanks for your help.

BFG AT T/A KO

Had them on my XJ and I was impressed for an all around tire.

And I'm from your neck of the woods. :)

dig my BFG AT's

on my 2nd set - not because i wore the first set out, but because i went to 33's....

Hi, my name is Rick.
Iam a Cooper-holic.
Right now, to make a LOOONG story short, Iam about 1/3rd of the way thru my first set of tires other than Coopers in something like 15 years.(off-road & street)

A set of BFG AT T/A KO's.

Seem to be a GREAT tire so far. ;)

I've been using Dominator Radial A/T. Are these made by Cooper? I've heard that and Pirelli, I dunno. Anyway my last set lasted 50K miles before I put them on another truck I have and theyre still there. I have found they work well in the rain, rocks and on dry loose surfaces like sand. Only complaint is the ride is a little rough in the XJ they seem to be a harder material. Since these are for your mom I assume you aren't hardcore trail stuff.

Anyway, I and my family has found that the expensive brands like BFG cost nearly twice as much yet aren't as durable as less popular brands like Cooper. Tire questions- you'll get 100 different opinions.

ya i actually had a set of bfg all's on my xj before my swamper trxus mt's now, and they did seem to be pretty nice tires. i didnt get great wear out of them though, probably about 28-30 thousand, rotated properly, and they were pretty bald. so basically just checking what tires people had experience with, cause im not sure she wanted to go with the bfg all's, maybe wanted to try something different.

and yes she isnt hardcore trail stuff, driving her dodge durango (which is what these tires are for), but that doesnt mean I dont wheel my xj! ;)

BFG All-Terrains. I've been through several sets and all have done around 50,000 miles with good tread left.

hmmm....maybe bfg all's are the way to go, seems to be the consensus here.....just surprised i didnt get better wear then i did.

oh and dont worry bout it bajacalal, i was just a little confused

Why AT's?

Personally if I were to put a tire on a truckish vehicle for daily driving duties (and this includes with that rail stuff) it'd be Michelin LTX/MS in a heartbeat. I had them on my XJ for a long time; good traction wet or dry and actually performed much better than I expected on the trail as well.

My set lasted me a bit over 60,000 miles - that set was ABUSED as well. ( http://xj.sequoiasite.com/calico/2004/video/html/sequoiaslicks.html )

My brother had a set on his XJ and my Dad's on his second set on the C2500 HD, both were/are thrilled with those tires.

Bridgestone Dueler AT's on my third set, got the revo's this time. the first sets lasted about 60,000 each and were better in muddy crap but the revos are much better on the street. can't spin the tires in a straight line on dry pavement. hardley spin at all in the rain.

cooper discoverer s/t , great traction offroad and great onroad.

Got a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T's (693's) on mine right now. Had em since april and i'm fairly impressed with them. Awesome tire in the rain, dry pavement is great, and they are extremely quiet for an A/T. Mud traction could be slightly better IMO, but they're pretty decent for the small wheelin I do. I'd recommend them.

Its GREAT to see someone else likes Coopers besides me!

Only thing I did not like was...... cant get a road hazard on the ones I was running(Discoverer's sst's, Lt at's offroad and the cobras on the street) but I never needed to road haz one in the 15 years I ran them. Might go back to Coopers when the BFG's wear out. Dont know yet.

interesting, they offered me road hazard on my stts. i declined. wish i hadnt, 7k miles on them and i had slashed a side wall

Maybe it was just that the guy/dealer I got mine from did'nt wanna do it???
Dont know. He turned into an "A$$" anyway. He acted like he did not need my bussiness anymore, so ...... I found me a new tire guy.
Thats why I have the BFG's now.
Plus i found my BFG 31x10.5's at ko's ALMOST new with these wheels for $375.00.

100_2003.jpg

sold the wheels for $50.00 so the tires cost me $325.00 plus what I paid for the BB so I could put the tires on.
Now I gotta find me some 32's so I have another excuse to lift it agian. ;)
