No shit, I remember in High School. Digging through my change in the truck to fill it up at 95 cents a gallon.

Heh, I am a young'n and the earliest i remember was filling up for family trips around 1.25...

When I started driving it was around $2 iirc.

Back in "73 I was on a road trip in Colorado when the price of gas shot up to 39 cents/gal. I remember thinking: "Holy Crap, this is going to cut into my style".

.89 when i started driving. Right now its about 3.20-.30 near home in Bethlehem PA. been a real steady 2.99 at the cheapo Pilot in NJ near work, i fill up there almost always. That saves me almost $2-3 a tank, that's a good $6-10 a week for me. Im one of thoes who commutes an hour to work. One of two things are going to happen soon, either I get the higher pay position I put in for at work now, or I start looking closer to home to save gas, plus thats miles on the cherokee i can save on too.

Why you think I take my blitz cans down there for ? Generally saves me $3 for a 5 gallon can so I take 5 of them down, fill em and then when I get back home fill up the other jeeps as needed. Rather that extra $15 in MY pocket than someone elses. Plus up here we have special 'Pocono Mountain' gas... the tourists need it for their NY cars..
