I got my 87 Wagoneer ready to start pulling the motor today.
Runs, but has part of #1 rod sticking out of bottem of oil pan.
I am installing a 97 TJ 4.0 picked up on e-bay

My brothers girl friend gave it to me to haul it away. I was going to pull the front axel to install in my S/10 with a '72 jeep Commando body. But it is too nice to junk, so I am going to repair it


Has any one ever tryed to install a 87 fuel rail on a 97 intake? 87 has 2 lines going to it. Supply and return, 97 only has supply line And no I did not fine it. I did look first.

I am going to try to use the TJ air intake tube to the curb side for cooler air away from exaust. And move the battry to the drivers front where the air box is now. With larger cables.

Sounds like you got some plans. I would say get her running good first. That way you know how she is supposed to run then make mods from there. I got plans for my waggie also. But I want to see a baseline in a sense so I know if I am actually gaining anything when i DOO DOO my mods.

Just an Idea but either way have fun with her.

I have been trying all night to post pictures with no luck.
I got photobucket and uploaded to there, but can't get them to transfer to here.

The engine upgrades i'm talking about is what I got with new engine.
1 Reuse cps 87
2 Install knock sencer 87
3 Install 97 shift and gas peddal cables NEW
4 Reuse 87 flywheel
5 Use 97 PS pump and hoses
6 97 is non a/c Remove all A/C under hood
7 Use 97 TJ fan
8 Install twin electric fans infront of radiator NEW
9 Use 97 TJ or XJ exaust pipe { same part numbers } NEW
10 Reuse 87 cooling bottel
11 Adapt 97 TPS to 87 wireing
12 That shoul only leave fuel rail not hooking up to 87 2 line system
13 Replace bad motor mounts 87--97 same NEW
14 Use 87 wiring harness
