How many Ultra 4 class cars are actual cherokee's? I honestly see no need to involve them in a specific class like jeepspeed. Keep it Jeepspeed, prerunner, and desert racing only with a XJ specific platform. Lets not clutter up this Forum with a bunch of " Tube Buggy's". If you want an Ultra 4 forum go to Pirate..

Even with a Cherokee based tube buggy, most of what we would be talking about in here (how to go fast) is relevant. None of the other forums here is dedicated to going fast off road.

I also don't think we run the risk of clutter around here...

I haven't posted in this forum about my XJ based "tube buggy" that competed in 3 King of the Hammers, but if I did it might be interesting. Now we're building an XJ for the Ultra4 stock class. The rules are pretty restrictive, no modifications to the body or frame, no cutting on the body or frame for suspension mounting or clearance, must have all the stock lights, limited to 35" tires. What we do to build it to be competitive and reliable would apply to a lot of XJ's out there.

Desert racing is desert racing, whether it's Jeepspeed, BITD, Baja 1k, or KOH/ULtra4. It should be in this forum.

Adding my 2cents (where is cent key on my keyboard?)...We help sponsor a fair number of XJ racers from eastern regions who view KOH stock class, etc. as rock racing with flat-land racing added. Of course, they don't view the eastern regional competitions as desert racing. I know the BOD will get the title right, if it makes a difference. Anything to expand forum members is great! However, be aware many, if not most, of the XJ/MJ builds for stock KOH competition are already active on the regional forums.

you could say the same thing about jeepspeed.... why dont you just goto jeepspeed.net or rdc? because maybe he's allready a member? maybe he likes the place? maybe he's looking for info on xj's in general as well?

telling people to just go somewhere else... is not any kind of answer...

I'm thinking that the name of the forum shouldn't change, just the discription and the allowable content.
Unless anyone here has a good suggestion for a name change....

I'm with you on that Rick, I'd like to see the name stay the same, but have no problem with more go fast style content. Hell, we already do welcome any and all go fasters.

my vote is to keep it the same as it is now. I like to know that all the threads in the forum are specific to what i am into. I alway use the advance search to only show threads in the jeepspeed section.

As you may have noted a name modification and forum definition has been been tweaked in order more clearly define this forum.
Not much will change, its mostly to give the moderators a clearer understanding of what is allowable in this area.

Now, lets get some of the KOH build threads moved over here.
Even those in the regional forums.
