Hey,

If I were closer, I'd love to make it out to these. Bret and the rest of the Friends of Fordyce (FOF) guys are a great bunch, and do a lot - both with trail conditions and with their relationship with the forest service to keep that trail open.

If you were thinking about wheeling either of those weekends, might give fordyce a shot and bring your gloves!

Hi All,

The Friends of Fordyce will be conducting two workdays before Sierra Trek.

The first will be July 17, 18. Meeting place will be Fordyce Lake at 9am on the 17th. The purpose will be to close off the old section of the Committee trail bypassed by our new trail.

The second will be July 31, August 1. Meeting place will be approximately mile 6.5 at the mud hole area at 9am on the 31th. The purpose will be to close off and begin mitigation of the old section of trail.
This workday will be dependent on the height of the river. If it is too high it will be called off.

Please e-mail me to sign up for either or both workdays. If numbers warrant it we will provide a late lunch with sandwiches, salads and drinks. In any event, at least snacks and drinks will be provided.

Thanks!

im planning on making the later date clean up....should be fun, im trying to get a few Zombies to come also

an update -

looks like the July 31 date is canceled - BUT - note that October 9th BBQ at Cisco Grove!

Hi All,
1. Well because of the continued high water release we're going to (I hate doing this) cancel the July 31th workday. We can't responsibly lead a work party through the river right now.

That being said I am still planning on a run up the trail Saturday. I will most likely head in Indian Springs early and travel up to the mudhole area. If anyone wants to tag along I will more than welcome the company. Not an FOF run! I recommend only big tires and good waterproofing.

I'll be on channel 40 on the CB.

We'll reschedule this workday for after the water release goes down. Sometime in late September..

2. Not a work day but the boulder busting was so popular last time we did it I thought I'd post this in case someone wanted to come out for the show. This Friday the 30th at 9am we'll blow up a couple of rocks in the middle of the new committee re-route to make the uphill easier to do. Since this is a bailout trail and someone may be towing a rig we want to get rid of the "S" turn in the middle of the hill. The TNF will be sending one of their crew to do the blasting.

3. OK, in keeping with my promise to give more notice about FOF events here we go. The Friends of Fordyce will be hosting a BBQ, meeting and fun run on October 9th at Cisco Grove campground.

The BBQ is our way of saying thanks to all of you that support us. There will of course be the traditional FOF Free Meat, all the fixin's and non-alcoholic beverages.

During and after the BBQ we'll have a public input "Bull Session" where anyone can express their opinions, thoughts and suggestions about the trail and the FOF.

After lunch anyone that wants to participate can join us for a run up to Meadow Lake where we'll camp for the night.

Stay tuned for more details.

Please RSVP if you're planning on attending the BBQ so we can get an idea how much food to bring.

This will be a rain/snow or shine event!
