Gotta say, it was gorgeous up there. Very much in season.
Took the XJ up to the Fordyce trailhead and around some of the trail to the Pierce OHV area, then hiked to Eagles Lake and had lunch.
Trail up to the start of Fordyce was a *lot* gnarlier than anticipated. Is that representative of forest service roads in the area? In utah / colorado, a typical forest service road was doable in a Subaru...
Only put the one dent in my rockers, not real bad actually.
Still, I'm starting to regret having sold off all the lift parts from my Jeep. Now that I live in Nevada City, it's all pretty close & looking pretty good again.

Looks like a great excuse to start acquiring parts and build'r up.

I love that area!! Once you go past the staging area it does get bumpy but that keeps the Subarus out. if you were to follow the paved road to the end you will hit another entrance in that area. Just follow it down and either go right to cross the river(when safe) or just follow it to the river which has a few killer camping spots right on the river. Again crossing only when safe. There are water falls/swimming holes a bit down stream which are well worth the little hike to get there. You won't get far on Fordyce without lift, armor, lockers unless of course you dont care about breakage and body damage..
