Ford 6.0s

I personally have a 2007 king ranch with 129K now. Never had any engine work other then a FICM reprogram. it has only a 6deg split on the oil/coolant temp, and not one sign of a issue.

My only real complaint a Turbo lag that I would think with a Var vane tubro, shouldnt be as noticable.

LOVE my interior, leather, ext color scheme, back seat size and leg room, and mileage.

6.4L right? I notice a little turbo lag with my 6.6L Duramax(variable vane) also but it isn't as bad as my old 5.9L was. Isn't the 6.4L a sequencial set-up?

2007 is still 6.0

Both my uncles and my best friends 6.0s had alot of issues My uncles just blew the headgaskets at 110k He also has had egr issues...

Its funny reading this post because no one goes into this with an open mind, everybody is just ready to defend their brand. I have driven all of the ones listed and worked on most of them. The older 5.9 Cummins and the 7.3 Fords were/are still very reliable workhorses. The 6.0 Fords I've dealt with go one of two ways like everybody said, total basket case or no problems. Once the federal government had to get involved with diesel emissions all this crap started. Now trucks have to use electronics and filters and exhaust fluid to overcome the choking regulations. New technology always has a learning curve in the real world. It seems it usually takes a few years of actual production to get the bugs worked out of a powertrain. This is why i will never buy new vehicle in the first year of a new powertrain. Like most said, after 05, 06 the 6.0 was relatively bug free. But, like i said, nothing written here will make a ford guy buy chevy or dodge guy buy ford.

True story. I had a mint 97 F350 7.3 w/ 50k.....sold it cause I was offered big bucks. Soon after that I really regretted my decision and looked for another, but I couldnt find one like it anywhere. I decided,( as a long time ford guy), to buy a dodge/cummins. Bought a late 04...cummins 600. Hated the truck. Hated it. I thought if i lifted it and did some mods, id like it. Nope, 6" kit, 35"s, tuner, exaust etc, still hated it. Long story short, sold it, bought a 6.0 ford and never looked back. Yes, I sold a cummins to buy a 6.0.....and dont regret it. And when the ford breaks, which it will, I will fix it. No big deal.

I own a 6.0 and would buy one again.

Anything to substantiate that stupid.

I am a diesel tech and have been one for close to 12 years. I have also worked on many 6.0l's. I do have to admit I have only done one set of head gaskets along with studs and egr delete before. The motors not really that bad of motor. The reason I say it's only time is because the lack of clamping force. The 6.0l only has 10 little spindly bolts to hold in close to 600psi of static compression at full boost if left stock. Most all other V8 diesels I have worked on has 18 bolts per head.

I have seen the same motors in International tow trucks with 500.000 miles on them with no problems. But there motors are turned way down somewhere around 200hp if I remember. I personally blame Ford for their own problems trying to make more power then what the motor was made for.
