Flat towing an XJ with another XJ

oooh. Ok well I'm going to put some steel plates behind the bumper to reinforce it. should be enough.

Just make sure they tie into the frame. The bumper brackets are not strong enough either.

Think of tow hook brackets, you wouldn't use just the factory bumper mounts for those either.

look into a falcon2, seriously the nicest tow bar and cleanest install I've seen, expensive but worth every penny if you plan on flat towing a lot

Very nice, bu that's a steep price for a tow bar. $500 your half way to a decent used trailer.
I used a Reese tow bar and had no problems connecting it by myself. It was easier with a second pair of hands, but that was easy to duplicate with a jack stand when I did it by myself.

yeah, and $500 is only the bar, the frame mount is another $250
