finaly got an XJ 99 limited with some stuff

Ya that's a good point. Maybe pic up that GM trans case along with the 5.3/trans tomorrow and then make a hack and tap for it? Then I have my low cost trans case all done. That should handle 350hp no prob unless I'm just being a jackass. Right?

$349. Thanks to Kastein for the info on where to get this.

Glad I spotted that when I did, if I'd thought ahead I would have brought a grease pencil so I could write "BLOWN MOTOR" on the hood and then break the hood release cable to keep the scavengers away. :gee:

Hahahah. Someone went in and pulled all the fuses and relays out of it along with 3 coil packs but nothing was cut. Another burban was about 100 fr away with the entīe fuse and realay block there I meant to grab but I finished up just as they were closing and I didn't have a chance to go grab it. I'll shoot you a text about that one.

Keep a pencil with you, never know haha. Find me a 6.2 next time

I can probably just grab all the fuses and relays, there's a reason they charge a $2 entrance fee. You pulled coil packs off something else and put em on it before buying the motor right?

hahaha no, i was on the way to get the fuse block but a loader was driving by it so i asked him to put it on stand since the guy in the office was going to do it after his lunch break. he was standing around for 20min at that point so i was getting pissed off and didn't want to wait on him. loaded it into my truck at 440 paid and left at like 4:59.

but i think i know a guy who can help me out with what i need hahah.

i wanted the entire fuse block so i can see where it all goes or just unbolt the one i have and bolt that one up so i know everything is in the right spot. there was a blue burban just to the right across the road from where this one was no doors, hood, axles, motor, trans, ect ect onlything left was that fuse block haha.

going to be at least a month till i start working on this

You need the cats and downstream o2 sensors otherwise you will in fact pick up a CEL every few minutes of running whether you keep clearing it or not. Seeing how emissions below threshold is a no shit emissions code, You Shal Not Pass!. You can hack the stock chevy harness, install an hp tuners piggyback to change any peramter you want and shut off any extra codes like air conditioning and tire pressure fails. Its what all the hot rodders do.

Nah I need that AC, I not gonna sweat my ass off.

I'll be needing the jeep come to not throw CEL seeing as that what they will check. Or can I just put the LS obd hook up there under the dash?

You can have the stock ecu tuned and running better than stock with no cel without cats and downstream 02's.

i've read you can get better MPG with the 02s, i kept all 3 of them and have the harness intact still so i'm figuring i might as well use them.

with the advanced aftermarket software can't i just delete the CEL or just program it to be normal so it will not throw codes?

i dunno. i just know what i did and it worked, ran great, no cel (except for faulty maf sensor at times). never calculated fuel economy though, don't see how it would effect it as the downstream 02s just monitor cat efficiency.

did you have to pass emissions? also what did you do with the jeep side of the wiring and what not, run the jeep gauge cluster or all aftermarket?

what i want to do is get an autometer 3in tach and mount where ever i like for LS RPM monitor then use all the stock jeep gauges for temp, speed, oil PSI, electric and fuel level.... possible?

my jeep is from 1978. this motor with no cats runs cleaner than my 78 jeep with a 4.2l lol. i just run mechanical guages.

ohhh i see. well then i'm going to have to start drinking and figure my wiring out then.

well off to finish up the welds on the rear axle, redo the rear brake line as it looks like it will blow at any second, finish the front brake lines, re-do the front track bar, front brake calipers, get the 1310 to 1350 spicer 760, install the new trans case linkage, install the rear drive shaft, then the front, redo the steering, align it, fix the front bumper and a few other things. then i can try driving it down the drive way, hell maybe even the road. hahaha

Spicer 760s (actually 5-760x) are an axle ujoint, you're thinking of a 1310 to 1350 adapter ujoint for a driveshaft, not sure of the specific part number for that.

Electronics are interesting on a late model, I don't know if that converter box will work since XJs use CCD bus not CAN bus. Either novak is using the wrong terms, or that won't work because its for the wrong bus, I don't know.

i'll be on the phone soon with Novak asking some questions.

like i was saying about the new plan. Autometer 3in tach mounted on the dash somewhere and then i'll find the MOPAR sending units and wires that are on the 4.0, mod them to monitor the 5.3 so i can use the Jeep gauge cluster. when more things are worked out i'll be going the aftermarket route like a few other members here have done, i just want that $400-500 for gauges to go towards something else right now.

you find anything good up there today kastine?

The problem is that the sending units and wires for the 4.0 go to the ECU, then the ECU tells the instrument panel what to display via CCD bus. So you can't just reuse the senders - if it was a 96 or earlier you could. That's why everyone tends to just replace the cluster with aftermarket gauges, though if that Novak box actually works with CCD bus, it'll avoid the whole problem quite nicely.

Didn't really find anything good, I yanked a wiring harness and ECU from an 3.0L H6/EZ30D powered Subaru for a friend of mine's Forester engine conversion project and got some new-to-me tires for my red crapcan because it was probably going to strand me with at least one flat tire within a week or two based on how things were going.

Ohh I see, is it possible to skip the ECU and wire the gauge cluster to what ever? So the oil PSI gauge runs from the dash right to the oil sender?

I'll have to talk to Novak and see what they suggest.

If you see another ECU or working relay box for a suburban grab that for me if you can.
