Last time on the stand, all ready to go in. Also probably should have taken the hubs and shafts out as that was not easy carrying by myself to the jeep.

Tires on soon.

well i did a little brake line fixing, motor work and decided i might as well slap a 5.3 LS in there and give my brother the 4.slow.

full float D60 from an early 90s E350 van is now being stripped for a few parts i need.

thing is ****ing heavy! anyone want just the housing?

a properly rebuilt engine for a jeep.... seems to be the biggest waist of money acording to most jeep people :finger:
we're balancing them inside roundy round parts

short block is about to be assembled to get piston to deck heights, from there we'll figure out how much it will need to be decked to get the pistons as close to 0 as we can.

edited to add...

measure piston wrist pin holes to check for correct clearance before hanging on the rods

piston and rod assembly after they are all balanced out.

rotating assembly installed in the block with no rings to check for piston depth to see how much we'll have to take off. also another time to check for bet rods.... we found 2 more :arg: just a little bit in the front to back so we can straighten them. everything was 0.032 in the hole so its going to be decked around 0.030.

the 33s look funny. i need to figure out some steering, the brakes, track bar needs to be redone as its too long, and get the driver radius arm then it's done.

the back just needs to move over a little bit and get welded in, some brake lines on that and BAM done too. i may be able to take it down the road this weekend.

Dodge King pin D60 front, stripped down to just housing and kunckles. after more and more and more and then a little more reading i'm not sure if i will run this one.
it's almost brand new inside, looks like someone did hubs bearings brakes and new rotors with pads too then junked it or had an accident.

anyone want this?

leaning towards a SpiderTrax housing to weld all the stock OEM parts onto then spin with a currie HP center.

If you got rid of it how much would you want? I need at least one spindle, one of the ones on the axle I'm working on is junk.

And... what's your plan? Dodge kingpin 60s are pretty decent aside from being low pinion, which really isn't going to matter much for your purposes. IIRC that's 35 spline inner shafts, 30 spline outer.

Why exactly are you against running the Dodge D60 as it sits...?

Unless you just have money burning a hole in your pocket.

well first off its a pass drop, 2nd its a low pinion and lesser aftermarket for them. i also have no money, well i don't want to spend any money on this in the first place but ehh i can sell it later. the most expensive part of the 609 front will be the center as i can't get that at a junkyard or used as i needs to be a currie large bearing HP housing and locker of some type.

if someone wants the Dodge one in the pics come get it for $250
it's like new on the inside, new rotors, pads, bearings, like someone went all through it and then totaled it out.

i have 5+ other D60s to choose from at my local yards within 20min drive of my house. i'll see what i can get, either way it's going on a Ford 9 housing of some type. i'll get more into that later

Passenger drop is easily solved by swapping in a D300, or hell, a Chevy NP241 from the earlier years (though I've never seen anyone do THAT).

Um...what aftermarket are you looking for? A D60 internally is a D60...what do you need to upgrade? As far as external hubs, you can make your own drive flanges easily.

$250 is a steal. I'm trying to convince my friend to buy it. Hell I might buy it just because :D

Hell, the pass drop actually matches up nicely with your GM drivetrain plans because now you don't have to flip the GM transfer case.

Literally the only difference between a high and low pinion parts wise is the ring/pinion set and differential housing casting. Everything else is the same, the same shafts, lockers, carriers, everything will fit. So I'm not sure why that really matters.

Oh, well, crap, there is that. I thought GM stuck with passenger drop for everything.

ls-4l60-np241-np205-pass drop 60

or

ls-4l60-np241-driver drop 60.

seeing that you already have the pass drop axle, a 205 and doubler kit would probably run you about the same as starting over with a hp60 (assuming you pay around market value and have to rebuild the outers) and you will have a cooler drivetrain but less cool front axle.

also, I noticed you mentioned no money, yet you have one of the most complex builds on this site with capable, expensive ideas, and only want to use it for street use with the occasional dirt road?

at the risk of sounding like a douchebag, it sounds like you are diving into this build quicker than you should.
