Extreme 4x4 [Jeep Cherokee]

So I won't show up here to post in the thread...wht not, the reason I post on Pirate is because I was member there before I got this job so why not continue there.

Bruiser steered me over here to rear this thread about the build up on the show. and after reading what has been said I will "chime in" about the project.

1) Why a 4 door, although the 2 door 5 speed 2wd is the lighter of the XJ and currently the hot ticket in Jeep Speed we had trouble finding one. So we settled for the 4 door. Probably depending on the course, we might install the SYE and run the 2wd front axle, and keep the live front axle for the back up

2) Additional plans for the project. If you remeber at the end of the show I said, next time we have to deal with alot of other things before this truck is ready for the desert. In the next show we will do just that

3) Rear axle swap, SYE, and additional bracing....these are all items that will be covered later

4) Essentially Off Road, although I cannot speak of their service...I can say that the cage kit was not only a perfect fit and "Jeep Speed" legal they are the only ones who make one that follows Jeep Speed rules.

5) OT, I am sorry that you didn't get a chance to try out for the job..but I can say that I didn't go to Wyo Tech either and I was hired.
Just out of curiousity, what do you do with the stock parts, that were in good shape, that come off the vehicles? I always wondered that. Especially, on that XJ it was in really good shape.

I wouldn't mind having that rear seat bottom cushion. It was in great shape, mine has a tear in it. :D

Before you guys go bashing on them for their buildup, tell me this...exactly how many of you are out there racing JeepSpeed or have built a desert racer? I'm not saying that anything they are doing is wrong or right, I'm just wanting to know how many people here actually have enough first hand experience to be judging what they do?

Oh, and probably the best cage builder out there for JS is T&J's in Orange, CA. They have built more JS cages than any other shop.

Ian - can't wait to see you guys (and gal) out there.

Welcome to the forum Ian . Hopefully the Jeep came with the Chrysler 8.25" axle:firedevil. Sure looks nice :D. It would be cool if you could install one of Rusty's beefy steering conversions. The Over the Knuckle one would be real cool. There'd be some welding in it for Jesse !
Also be sure to install the braces he has for the trackbar bracket and the steering box. IMHO this is an important mod Rusty's offers if you want to keep you steering tight and you steering box attached to the frame. Have fun flogging the XJ beast you and Jesse are gonna build and I'm look forward to seeing it transform on the show. And getting the hell beat out of it:eeks1::roll:!

Welcome to NAXJA, Ian. Nice of you to drop in and prove me wrong. I stand (most happily) corrected on that count. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the XJ build.

I think it's safe to say all of us here are pleased to see an XJ finally stepping into the Offroad TV limelight with its short-wheelbase bretheren.

Feel free to drop by and say hello whenever the mood strikes.

I can say I have no idea what they do the parts but...

You have no idea how nice that XJ is..
I was having a hard time turning it over to him.. I almost kept it fo myself and found him another one..

I saw it..that XJ looked very nice...too nice. Oh well...at least it will be a celebrity, hopefully they wont do a Jesse Jerk move and trash it on its first outing.

PS: Ill take the interior parts :)

I missed most of the episode but will look for it in reruns.

I don't know Rusty was more than willing to pony up his kit for us to race on (some were not, sure install it....but don't race it!!!) so if it breaks you will see it on TV.
On the Rusty's note that does not surprise me about him. He is a decent guy and has issues just like all the other builders. How many of you have actually meet him and talked to him? Do any of yu remember when RE had to shut there forums down bc of product bashing? It is no doubt that you get what you pay for in this industry. But, you also have to realise most people do nto bash em liek we do, and a lot of the 4x4 market these days is mall krawlers.......

jeez your guys' airs late, it airs here at like 10:30AM, and the powerblock starts at 9. You guys are lucky. I'm usually not awake for it and just barely caught the last episode with the cherokee.

If they are in good shape we ussually give them up to someone we know who needs them. We really are not into selling parts, so if someone is in the right place at the right time, they get a pretty good set of seats, or tires and wheels.......

Sometimes we keep them "in storage" for later in case we need to return the vehicle to stock for whatever reason.

Hey Ian. Thanks for the show. I like watching, minus the damn commercials, but you have to pay the bills. Keep up the good work. I would like to see a rig built without the big floor lift and done in a driveway though. :spin1: Either way great show.

KyS

Almost forgot. Thanks for posting up

Has NAXJA considered an honorary membership to Ian and this vehicle being built?

Ian, have you considered having a few of our awesome fabricators on the show/build as XJ-Perts? :jester:

Well The reason that XJ is so nice...

Is because Ian asked a fellow XJ'er to get him one.. so why not get him the nicest I could possibly find.. I mean I want folks to look at XJ's and say DAMN those things look nice with a lift, etc..Why not Pimp our style ride on TV :)
I remember you saying you were delivering a Jeep but I didn't know it was going to be on extreme.
