Ian, have you considered having a few of our awesome fabricators on the show/build as XJ-Perts? :jester:

Welcome to the board Ian!

Wow, maybe 87Manche peed in this guy's cornflakes too...4wd works pretty nice for the sand. If I have to slow down while playing in the washes, sometimes I stick it in 4x4 til I get back to speed. As far as Toys in the rocks, my buddy's 00 Taco has outcrawled me quite a few times...but he's got the E-locker from the factory vs my open diffs...Toys do pretty stinkin good in the rocks though.andersonsys said:All I know is that they, as well as other rich a$$holes need to get the concept out of their heads that only $50k-100k rock buggies, can do real fourwheeling. If they were smart they would set it up with gears, larger tires, lift kit, 4:1 T-case kit, a nice roll cage, bumpers, rocker protection, and take that thing somewhere like The Hammers, Moab, The Rubicon, Farmington NM, that will intrigue the people who watch the show. Most of us are people who bought our rigs for almost nothing, and spent what little money we had into making our $300 POS into a capable wheeling rig.
Also Desert racing is for the 2WD guys, there is no reason to waste 4wd parts on something a 2wd can do. People shouldn't associate Desert racing to a 4wd event. And if they do decide to use a 4wd , they should leave the Desert racing to the Toyota guys, they don't want to get those incapable pretty trucks dented anyway.

Xtreme Ian said:So I won't show up here to post in the thread...wht not, the reason I post on Pirate is because I was member there before I got this job so why not continue there.
Bruiser steered me over here to rear this thread about the build up on the show. and after reading what has been said I will "chime in" about the project.
1) Why a 4 door, although the 2 door 5 speed 2wd is the lighter of the XJ and currently the hot ticket in Jeep Speed we had trouble finding one. So we settled for the 4 door. Probably depending on the course, we might install the SYE and run the 2wd front axle, and keep the live front axle for the back up
2) Additional plans for the project. If you remeber at the end of the show I said, next time we have to deal with alot of other things before this truck is ready for the desert. In the next show we will do just that
3) Rear axle swap, SYE, and additional bracing....these are all items that will be covered later
4) Essentially Off Road, although I cannot speak of their service...I can say that the cage kit was not only a perfect fit and "Jeep Speed" legal they are the only ones who make one that follows Jeep Speed rules.
5) OT, I am sorry that you didn't get a chance to try out for the job..but I can say that I didn't go to Wyo Tech either and I was hired.
