We'll this happened way to fast... I planned on getting another xj to build before winter but didn't plan to get one this soon...

It's a 1996 cherokee sport... 4.0l ax-15 30/35 with abs... It's already got a cage and has been pre-flopped... Got a smoking deal on it but will need some work...

The passenger side is where the damage is at... A pillar is a little juicy...

It looks to me a windshield will still fit so no worries... I will have this thing at my house tomorrow night....
 
First things first... I wanna finish the cage by doing seat brackets and have it go into sliders and kind of an exo to keep this body straightish... I'm hoping I win the lottery before winter and get some axles out of a super duty ford for it.... Not sure if I want to keep it a stick or swap my auto stuff into it... Not sure if it would be a lot of work or not...
 
to keep it cheap , 14bff rear, 4.10s detroit, and a dodge lp60 with 4.10s lock right, narrowed dump the posi lok. that way you dont have to regear.

I don't think ima go crazy wheeling with this one... It would be nice to have a clean rig for once...

Im stoked to see a clean interior/exterior with a cage for you. thats sweet man. I like it .
I see 14b's with detroits , 4.10s to 4.88s, and discs for 400-600 on CL from time to time . I find ford ball joint 60s for as low as 700.
 
I want a ford ball joint front and whatever for the rear... 14b or a sterling...
 
Alboy, that cage looks pretty OK except the B hoop diagonals to the trans tunnel. Those are basically not structural, the trans tunnel is just sheetmetal. You might look into changing how that is set up.

I need to figure out how to ship stuff to CA I guess, I have sold ford balljoint 60s for anywhere from 250-400 and can't find a buyer @ $600 ("dump your F250 TTB special" basically) for one with all the leafs/steering even though a bunch of people have told me it's a good deal.

Yea there is a few things ima add to the cage and that being one of them... Get me a 60! Lol thanks for the opinion....
 
one thing with a ford BJ front though. youre mostly stuck building a 3 link and coilovers, which is great, except for the fact that its expensive...

heres how i see the tranny tunnel tie ins, kinda stupid to put em there, but its better than nothing at all I guess. plus you can plate that entire area with some .188 flat steel and then tie it all into a floor hoop to help spread the load.

Good call.... Ok need an axle for 4 link and cheap shocks

It's home... Was looking at it more in the garage and besides the little flop this thing is clean
 
Already selling stock stuff off it! Skids r gone. Bumpers tomorrow I hope... Gonna get steel for stiffeners next week and start working on that... I've been thinking about it and may just throw some 37's on this and keep it nice and throw a 4:1 on it and wheel it... I'm poor and suck at saving money so tons don't look good...
 
so are you junking el junky then to fund this build?
 
I was thinking maybe just beat on el junky and make this a nice wheeler... 37's max and be able to drive it without worry...
