El Junky Dos

What rear axle is in el junky dos ? just run 33s then if you want to keep it clean and mellow.

wait for a deal. I just saw a built waggy 44 with 4.88s and a 60 rear with 4.88s and a locker and some chromos and other stuff on CL for 1500$ obo . I think it sold already though, but it had other goodies. By the time you buy lunch box lockers for the 30/44 youll be at like 500$, then add gears, another 600$ in parts, find a built set of half tons or 3/4 tons for 1500$ or less already geared and locked and youll be ahead of the game.

good looking jeep alan...reminds me of mine when I first got it!

If it is, I need to find 2-3 and start driving.

If I hunt around I can usually find a ford 60 of some vintage every month or three, and I could fund like a month or two long vacation to the southwest just by loading 2-3 up, driving out, and selling them for that.

Is 1300 a good deal on a 78-79 kingpin ford?

I mean its a hard axle to find - the 78-79 KP Ford HP60- thats about right for those years. The newer ball joint ones go as low as 700 sometimes.

I'd go with a c&c 14 and a narrowed dodge 60 easy and cheap look at vanimals build

I'm pretty sure you should try narrowing an axle before saying it's easy and cheap.

Going pass drop is an interesting idea, will probably need exhaust modifications but that's no big deal... and it's an excuse/reason to do a d300 and twin sticks at the same time.

zachandandy, yes, I could. I have no rent and no mortgage because I paid in full with cash for my house, and my bills are fairly low. But I'd rather not derail a build thread over that.

I should rephrase it would be cheaper if you have the tools to do it.
Not easier
