I installed my sye yesterday but the driveshaft I got from the junkyard is way too long. I got a front shaft from the front of a 94 v8 grand Cherokee. 33" collapsed, and it doesn't even fit fully compressed. Everything I read online said that shaft should work with my drivetrain setup, but I guess not!

So I have two options:
- have the shaft shortened by a driveline shop
- find someone with a shaft 31-32" long (collapsed) that's for sale.

Does anybody have a shaft that fits those specs?

Does anybody know of a good driveline shop in the east bay area? Any idea how much this will set me back?

I found a list of driveshaft lengths from different grand Cherokees, but the only ones that are the right length are in zj's with rare setups  looks like these are my only options.

Stoopid jeep isn't drivable till I get this figure out :gag:

front wheel drive in 4. so its driveable.
getting it shortened and balanced should only be 60$

I was hoping for 31.5-32"ish. If only modesto was a bit closer!

Front wheel drive would work I guess, but I'll just drive the minivan (swagger wagon) instead lol.

Hoping to get it shortened tomorrow. Hopefully they don't rape me with their prices!

Save the ZJ shaft!
YOur current front shaft doesn't work in the rear?

I'll be heading back there tmw to grab it. Didn't get off work til 5 and had an eclipse an beer to take care of. I'll grab it and hold onto it for my sye or a spare for you if I don't get around to installing the sye soon since you're getting yours shortened.

Thanks Tim, I'll give then a call.

Llama, I should be getting this all under control today. Thanks for the offer. Hopefully that shaft works for you, as it seems that every setup is a little different. Maybe mine is just an oddball.

South bay wants $125, and both concord and Livermore want $112.50.

Ugh, I should have just bought a Tom woods or something. So I'd have a warranty too.

I wish I could find that shop over here in Pittsburg/Antioch area. Drive Line Services of Concord wants $130 just to shorten a shaft. They're the only ones in close proximity to me (that I know of). :rattle:

Thanks for the info. They'll save me about $35 over the other shop here in Pitt.
