Hello gents and ladies. Can any one recommend a good DVD ripper and video capture software suite. I need to put vhs onto DVD and copy my DVD's. Thanks Dan   Please feel free to email back channel.

I did that last weekend. I went to Best Buy and got the "ATI TV Wonder VE" PCI card. It comes with all the software you'd need to transfer ANYTHING onto DVD.

It's a PCI card that lets you run a coaxial cable or an RCA input or both into the computer. It woks great and I can now record football games directly onto my computer then send it to the DVD burner.

HTH

P.S. It was like $40 or somewhere thereabouts.

Thanks for the reply Im going to go out on Saturday and pickup up the video card I went to the web site and dowloaded the software. I went to your web site whats up with the lower contril arm? Looks like beefed up the adjuster end. I need to do the same thing. What size and thread pitch nut did you use? Thanks again for the info. Easy Xjer. :woohoo:

That all-thread is 1&1/8"x12. It fits into the 1.5" CA tubing perfectly.

After I added the CA drop I had to cut off 2/3 of the jamb nut just to get it to adjust down far enough. Only one nut has loosened due to rock contact. If it's tight enough I shouldn't have to worry about them coming loose. However, a higher thread count would definitely help in that area.

looks for Smart Ripper. It can ripthe vob files off of your DVDs. Ten use a program like TMpeg to encode to the right size and something like Nero to burn them. The only problem youwill run into is that many current DVDs from the store are dual layer and AFAIK there are no dual layers burners available to the public yet.

That is what a shrink program does. It compresses the DVD file small enough to fit onto a single layer DVD. It will still be readable by most DVD players. The eliminates the problem you described.

Ok successfully backed up my first DVD. Had to buy NERO 6 Ultra. But I got it done. Thanks for the info Okie Terry Man it sure takes a long time for it to do its work.

Here a wierd situation I went ot erase a used dvd+rw and Nero told me that operation was not supported. How is that for confusing? Any suggestions?

Well that was easy. All I did was reboot and it now works. Does any one have win 95 on floppy? I have an old laptop tha need an operating system no cd-rom.

Ok finally had a chance to get to try the tv video capture card. I cant get it to capture from the comp in. I hook my palm corder to it and get nothing change the video device to the rage theater from the video card and it works but not when I select the tv card.
