dusy trail Labor day weekend

Dusy Ershim Trail is a awesome adventure. A must do trail and not too bad over a 3 day weekend. Only saw 15-20 vehicles total on a big weekend! Saturday got on the trail about 845 and made camp and East lake, super clean and peaceful camp with a fresh bathroom built in 10/2013. Big thanks to the Fresno club. Before camp was Thompson hill, steep and rough and loose with dirt mixed in. Steep like cadillac hill but with not much traction. A good challenge for sure. Sunday went 5miles to Ershim lake and a group of 2 xjs were leaving so perfect campsite by the water, nice relaxing afternoon. Sunday night toyota came down looking for welder. 2 Yotas about 1-2 hrs from camp had 2 stipped threads in knuckle and were limping there way. We went back about 45 minutes and did some welding. Thanks to james from WeBuilt who had the welder in our group of 3. They limped to camp, slept from 1-5am and limped the last 11 miles out.
Monday went from Lake Ershim to kaiser pass 11 miles in about 5 or so hours. Couple really hard sections before you get to pavement. Good times.
I would say 33 inch tires would work fine. I have 35s, with traclock rear and arb in front. So I think we averaged about 2 MPH so we were wheeling the trail about 16-17 hours. I was expecting longer due to reading google. I would say you have to pay attention to driving about 90-95 percent of the time. If its not the rocks its the trees. I did more 3 point turns then I have the last 2 years I have wheeled the XJ.
GOOD TIMES. Pics to come....
