Yes, the intermidiate shaft. Also need a new steering box and the high and low pressure lines. Welding around the rubber coupling in the shaft may have led to a small fire.
Sorry to hear about your busted hand; but glad you got her off the trail.
But its a good lesson for those who didn't know: When you have manual steering, make sure you keep your thumbs out from inside the steering wheel. When your tire hits an obstacle it can spin the wheel very quickly and with tons of force. Broken hands, wrists, or thumbs are the result.
And steering shafts too. I'd say on a difficult trail like the Dusy, you'd be money ahead leaving the vehicle and coming back with the correct parts.It's nearly impossible to hold on tight enough to get the vehicle to go where you want and not get your hands/wrists/fingers snapped around.
