driving without front shaft

can i drive my np231j trans case without a front shaft? Need to see where my vibes are coming from front or rear. If I can, how long? I searched but I missed it or I'm blind. The front shaft has play in the slip joint. How much is to much?

You sure can, I've been without one for a couple months. You get slightly better gas mileage that way as well.

yeah same here, i had some bad vibes after doing my 2wd to 4wd conversion. especially at highway speeds....took out the front and the vibe went away....good luck with that....
