Double Shackle Pics.

yanno if it was me looking for lift... i'd do your lift shackles you have there, then measure the front fender height, then the rear and when i saw the rear sagged more than the front by X amount of inches, i'd go down and buy a set of blocks in that amount... if blocks were so bad for LIFT then people wouldnt do it to every lifted truck i've ever seen on the road. the only drawback to blocks is that you wont get the articulation like you would if you had just re-arched your springs or bought new lifted leaf packs. and blocks are like 20-30 dollars at autozone =).

i actually thought about doing blocks to cure my sagging stock leafs for a period of time until i could afford the 3" BDS lift hit

Don't do blocks. They work loose under use, break and spit out, leaving you with a mangled mess that is very difficult to limp off the trail. Blocks also increase leverage under acceleration, = leverage that wraps your springs, bending leafs and leading to spitting the blocks out.

It really looks like your leaf spring packs are too short. Have they been re-arched beyond the original arch for lift purposes? Your rear leaf eye should sit aft of your shackle eye, so your shackles sit at a slightly forward rake.

sorry i did not get a better pics of the shackle, i was busy being pissed off about my axle. a learned alot that day and from this thread.
I AM AN IDIOT!!!!!
most of the damage was from a poor extraction (lead by me) i was in some thick stuff.
the tire came off when i was finally pulled out.

Has any one done a setup like this before? I have seen double shackles but i wanted more lift and the shackle sits on the unibody, i just wonder if this will damage the body. i have not taken this setup on any hard off road trails but it seems tobe very strong and i dont see any damage to the unibody so far.

Whats funny is no signs of shackle failure,just signs of those "nasty" welds letting go.I bet if you did the shackles "as told" you might even like them!

Even now I still feel sick looking at the welds and the method of attaching that bumper to the unibody rail. I just hope alcohol was consumed before that seemed like a good idea.

The reason all the mall crawler trucks run blocks is the springs are so stiff, they dont have to worry about axle wrap.

Anything over a 1'' block has this problem on XJs. But then again, you know everything there is to know, so what am I saying?
