Where are you guys getting the stuff!?


I need 12' of 1.5" x .250wall DOM and I can't find the stuff locally to save my ass. I found ONE place that could order it but said it was going to be $13 a foot and I'd have to order a 17-24 foot piece.

I know one of you has to have that laying around or at least know a reasonable place to order it that can ship it. I'm using it for steering links so it can be cut into shorter sections for shipping!
 
Depending on what Im doing, I buy 1.5" x .250 wall DOM from a place locally, they usually stock a couple of pieces. They will sell you 12' but its more, usually like $8 a foot. If you buy a whole stick, they will sell for $7.65 a foot, but they do not deliver.
 
How about you go buy what I need and I'll pay to ship it to me. I need 3 pieces about 4 foot long. Shouldn't be too bad to ship... Or I could pay the 11 bucks a foot that they want locally and HAVE to buy 20 foot.

$220 for 20 foot is kinda expensive considering I only need 12 feet... This shouldn't be this damn difficult! Half the people around here in shops have no idea what DOM is! it blows my mind! AHHHH
 
I guess I could, but they are about 35 mins away from me on the other side of town. Also, that stuff is HEAVY so shipping def woulnt be cheap. I don't mind to do it for you, but it will have to wait until after I get back from KOH.
 
Call Andy @ Ironman he is in Haysville, NC not that far from you. I bet he could either sell you what you need and ship it to you or tell you where to get it. Tell him you know my goofy ass!
 
Just ordered a 20 ft stick. My wallet is now crying...

Glenn, Andy got my fixed right up. He's having his supplier send the steel directly to my house.

Thats what I said! lol

I spent half an hour trying to convince him to do the prototyping for a rear coil conversion on my Jeep. lol I think I still need to do some persuading.
 
I did. That was actually the first place I called. They wanted $11.36/ft for 1.5"x .25.

I don't need to stuff you quoted yet.

I've alctually already got the pieces that I need. $175 later.

looks good! I want to start doing more fab work, but money is restricting me for the metal portion. I'd like to do axles, but first step for me is a hybird cage. I've come close to rolling to many times(most recently I found that lockers can some times get you in trouble when on this carolina clay on a slope with 8ft washouts). Tubing bender attachment for the pirahna is on the way. hehe.
For prices, my company sells to Dillon so I'm not sure if we some kind of discount or not. If they quote you higher on the 1.75" .120, PM me and I'll see what magic I can work.
 
aight. Thanks. I'm actually thinking about having RSOR build my cage... I can just barely buy materials and a bender for the price of them building it for me. THen I don't have to do the work and it will be stronger... lol
 
That's true, but damn I don't have time to do the work... Trust me I'd LOVE to have bender and be able to build this thing myself! Plus, I can't afford to mess up a bend.

I actually PMed tyler a couple days ago... Been patiently waiting for a reply. lol
