Differences In Tread Depth

I picked up Kittrell's used MT/Rs this weekend - 4 tires are worn, 1 is brand new. I want to get the brand new tire in rotation with the others. The closest of the 4 worn tires has approximately 5/32" less tread than the new one. Am I cool with pairing those two up or will that amount of difference cause problems?

My searches found plenty about putting two new tires on, but I didn't turn up anything on just one. Thanks for the help.

......the only factor that comes into play is if you have an automatic locker like a detroit or aussie as examples.......... the two different tire diameters even being so minor might cause them to constantly open and close as you are driving around as they are effected by the rotation of the tires, this could cause you to do the street shuffle. :D

I have had that effect before, put a spare on my rear which was brand new to the worn out tire on the other side and my rear detroit did these strange tings.................kind of annoying and not so fun to drive.

.....I am rambling here if you don't have a locker like that you should be fine..................... :lickout:

Yup, I have an auto-locker in the front. I figured that would be a problem, but wanted some affirmation to be sure.

There's one tire in the batch that looks more worn than the others, so it looks like there's going to be a difference in tread depth any way I do it. Maybe I'll be stuck buying a second new tire...

like he said..if your not locked your ok....
i work at a tire shop....we see this crap all the time....depending on how you drive it should even up quickly .....just my .02
