My cat needs to be replaced and my buddy has one with very low kms left over from when he did his exhaust. His cat is from a 93 zj which is the same part number as a 93 xj..... The problem is my xj is a 92 and looking online at napa's part numbers they are different?

Why is there different part numbers for a catalytic converter from 92 - 93? Did jeep do somthing different to the catalytic converter for different years?

You have access to both cats, take a look at them.

From the NAPA website it looks like the 92 has a flange on it and the 93 is a slip fit.

The O2 sensor should be before the cat not after on pre OBDII vehicles, OBDII vehicles (post 98) will have the downstream and upstream oxygen sensor
