Well, I saw it!

Richard and 9 other well built XJ's walked though Die Tryin' here in Montrose, Colorado with nothing more than a couple of pop beads and a few body scars! It was amazing! We got some pictures..look for them soon.

Grrrrrrrrrr, I should be there. Don't make us wait much longer for the pics or there's gonna be a lynchin' mob :D

Here are some pics (Thanks NAXJA guys)

Hey there,
Just wanted to login and say THANKS to some of your members. We ran into your members on "21rd" in Grand Junction, CO on 5/18 and they were patient when we had a few slowpokes and even lended an onboard welder when my friends pittman arm stripped off his steering box. Hope you guys made it all the way through the trail.

Here's a few pics with the NAXJA guys:

If you know any of these guys make sure they see this BIG THANKS from me!

P.S. - Impressive rigs in your group!

Well, that's all I had with them in it. I just wanted to say thanks more than anything, and post the pictures in case anyone wanted to put a name with the faces. I'll try not to waste anymore of your time Scott!

It was non-jeeps not just non-XJ's breaking down in our group! A Ford Bronco snapped a u-joint and the FJ-40 had the steering box issue. My CJ-7 made it through just fine, and so did my buddies Commando.

co_big, it's been my experience that everything breaks out there and does it quite often. The last time I ran it we broke my XJ 3 times, a CJ twice, an EB 4 times, a FJ40 once, and I believe there were others. That trail isn't all that super hard but it's hell on equipment for some reason. I can't wait to move back out there so I can start to rebuild my collection of seriously broken parts :D

We appreciate the pictures, Scott's just a :looser:

Kevin, we were glad to lend a hand out there on 21 Road. We wish some of our own CO XJ folks would have shown up, we were running the trail with no help from anyone we knew. We didn't know most of the good stuff was at the end of the trail, and it ended up getting late when we got to the real fun stuff. Mike Jarvis from Wisconson broke a hub and needed to be winched out of a tight spot with two winches and a snatch block, Paul S broke the track bar axle mount which needed welding, Borton broke his track bar which also needed welding, and we got totally lost gettng out of there at the top. We didn't make it back to the campground until around 9:30, and we still needed to drive to Montrose. Then FarmerMatt lost the keys to the his Suburban, with Paul and Jes's stuff inside, and they had to wait until after midnight for AAA to get a locksmith out there. We all ended up getting to the campground in Montrose between midnight and 3:00 AM. After most of us had a long day or two driving to CO, that first day of wheeling was a bitch. We did have fun on the trail, though, and it was a good warm up for what came later.

I just got home a few hours ago, I ended up stopping in Tuscon on the way home to visit one of my daughters. We REALLY had fun running Die Trying. We had walked it the day before and it looked very tough, but we got 10 XJ's through with no breakdowns, a minimum of winching, two blown beads, and a little body damage, and we were completely finished with the trail by 5:30. It was an awesome day. Too bad there weren't any XJ'ers from CO with us, it looks like it took a bunch of out of state guys to show them how it's done. :D :D

Going to bed....more later,
