Yes, I searched!

Does anybody have any pics of diamond plate steel armor? I love that stuff, and I was thinking about using it to reinforce my quarter panels and maybe having a strip of it along my rocker panels too... does anybody have any pics of either of these, or of any other diamond plate armor for that matter?

Alright, well I guess I'll have to dive into this one head first. I'll post pics when I'm done... IlIt'll be a couple weeks before I get to it though.

Tread plate, is the actual name of it. And I would guess no one posted any pics, because not many have done it. To be honest, I think it looks rather tacky. Almost a trying too hard to be offroad inspired kind of look. Why? You spend about twice as much for steel that has little diamonds on it. This stuff is NOT cheap. Aluminum in thin sheet, maybe. But tread plate in 3/16-1/4" and you're talking mega money. Just use flate sheet instead and save the extra bones for some quality rust proof coating or new shocks or something.

For 1/4" steel plate, 48x96", you're looking at around $360. That's a pretty steep investment for something that is A.) Uncut B.) Unpainted/coated C.) Not pre-fitted or bent to any specifications, and C.) would most likely have to be custom ordered online or through a wholesaler. More expensive either way.

Haha man that ebay one looks like it's trying to be a hummer.
I'm just talking about black tread plate on the rear quarters and rocker panels... I like the way it looks, and it fits with the black/red of the rest of the jeep.

I actually want to go with steel tread plate that's been Hurculined or painted black, if anything. The reason why is because my Jeep looks tacky with any sort of chrome on it, as the whole Jeep has black accents such as the handles, mirrors, etc. The chrome or aluminum tread plate might look good with an older Jeep with chrome door handles, mirrors, grille, bumpers, etc.
However I haven't had a real need to do this kinda thing.

Yeah I am going to say that I think it will look tacky regardless of whether or not it is herculined.... not to mention the first time you scuff it that spot will be shiny silver again so it really wouldn't be worth it... I have seen one truck that had that stuff on the rocker panels and the whole bottom of the truck was Rhino lined... the Rhino lining looked good, but this stuff looked hideous!!!

I dunno I personally would rather have chrome mirrors lenses, seems like they would work a little better than flat black ;)

But with flat black you won't get that annoying glare that other vehicles with headlights bright enough to see stuff with will give you.

What??? Dude I made a joke out the mirror LENSES. The part you see out of. If you're talking about painting those black, not only is that ragingly retarded, but illegal.

Here is mine that i did.
