Delema?!?!

another vote for the bfg's
I have a set of swamper ltb's that go on before hitting the trails. Then for dd duty I have a set bfg at's that completely amazed me the first time I did some light wheeling with them!!!Excellent onroad manners and they wear really good.
You will be surprised at the places you can go with BFG A/T'S!!!But as with any tire they are a compromise bettween awesome offroad performance and onroad wearability/manners

Honestly the best way to have your cake and eat it too on a dd is to have two pairs of shoes.

JP mag. did a tire test recently. It seems any thing good off road scored bad on the road, and just the opposite. The tire getting good marks all across the board were the Pro Comp Exterrains. Heavy lugged and siped for wet traction. I run them and have wadded one up when the bead broke. Aired it up and was amazed i did not ruin this tire.

Mostly road tires???

Go for the Bridgestone Duelers, cheap, just about the best comprimise tire around. Great wet road, snow and ice traction. Better than decent on the trail, but realize they are not a mud tire.

I've got Firestone MT's now. If I hadn't got a really screaming deal, I wouldn't be running them. Not bad on wet pavement, but I haven't had them in the snow and ice yet. They certainly don't look designed for the snow.

I won't run BFG's unless they are the cheapest thing going. WAY WAY overpriced and hyped. IMHO.

I would have to go with the trxus mt. Though I am currently in S. Illinois I spent most of my life in MN and ND, still have family up there and I, and others I know and trust, love them in snow and just about every other condition. However I do not have much experiance with them on rocks, only dry/wet/snowy/muddy roads and trails.

Interesting reports about the Bridgestone Dueller Revos......The set on my XJ seem to be wearing like crap. Only 30K miles, and mucho wear....all highway, too. I was told that they were kick-ass last winter (haven't driven my XJ in the snow yet), but I did manage to get stuck pretty good in some shallow clay muck. Took about an hour, but she *finally* dug herself out.

<-- not too impressed with the A/T portion or wear....but extremely impressed with road/wet handling

I have been running the Bridgestone revos (30 x 9.50) on the wife's TJ for about 20k now. Snow performance has been great. Better that the AT,s by far. They have little wear so far but only about 20k on them. I do rotate every 5k.
They are not mud but, for me, a great compromise tire. Do reasonable offroad and good street manners, excellent in the wet.
I do not know your exact needs but, I would use these again for a DD/wheeler.

i'm goin with 30.9.50/15 Firestone Destination M/T's next
I've always liked BFG tires, but comeing from experience with two sets of 30/9.5 BFG A/T's THEY ARE JUNK... Both sets, the steel bands broke and the tires got all lumpy... apparently a notorious problem for them... an after they got all lumpy my wheel bearings got chewed up... it was like riding on severly unbalanced tires... now ive never used The Firestone, but they have excellent reviews.... Bridgstone Revo's have good reviews too!!! im just advising to steer clear of BFG all terrains.... when they are new they perform great and they will last.. but lasting and lasting good are two different things

Except for they cost twice as much and live half the miles... BFG all the way...

Where you getting that info?

I have the Firestones and have been very happy with them. I've got around 25K on them, and they have good life left. The reason I got these was because they were cheaper than the BFGs. They are a pretty tough tire (for a radial), I have chunks out of my sidewalls deeper than a BFGs sidewall thickness! They also seem to conform to the terrain better.

I'm not bashing BFGs (except the sidewalls), they are a good tire, and I have run both. With that said I would buy the Firestones over the BFGs again. My next set will likely be swampers though since my heep rarely sees pavement.

Also in general, the Firestones have better reviews in all areas of comparison with both the MT and AT! Also a better warranty rating.

go to coopertires.com and look at the s/t, s/-c, and stt. I've ran 235/75r15 S/T's they completely surprised me in all conditions. I've pushed drifts, above the grille, just crawling. As well as pulled through ruts, my buddy's 33's dug out. (very religious with the right foot though). good on pavement wet or dry, and very low noise.

I'm running on 31" Dick Cepek Mountaincats and I have loved them; quiet, awesome in mud and they worked satisfatory in the idaho snow, very predictable slide when siped (better than my old ats).

x3 for cooper ssts

I have used the BFG AT kos and loved the way they worked on road and snow, was not happy with trails(Iowa=muddy trails more then anything) but was happy with the 'rock' type wheeing I did, size 215/70/15.

I have used the Dueler M/Ts and loved them on the dry road and trails but hated them in the deep slick mud and snow, size 33 10.5 15.

I run HankooK(sp?) on one of my xjs and Love the way the handle off road and on, yet to try them in snow, size 31 10.50 15.

Ran a set of Cooper SSTs on my old big dodge, 255/75/16(I think, hair over a 32), put over 20k on them in the 18mths I had it, unknown miles before I got the truck. I LOVEd these tires for an everyday/weekend wheeling tire above anything else I have ever seen or used. Great street wear, great in snow/ice, great in the mud(it's no TSL) It was a great all around tire. I will be getting 6 for my tow rig and a set for my DD next year.

But the best tire I have used for off road and little street has been my 34-9.50-15 TSLs, but not a good street tire, they wear out fast just thinking about driving on the street, but they sure do great burn outs:twak:...andy

I Drive my jeep every day for about 1.5 hours a day.(245 minute trips). i ride 30x9.5 dunlop mud rovers. this is my first set of anyhtong but pure road tires and they arent loud imo. and the best thing is i have yet to get stuck. i dont do any rock crwaling but in mud they're great and for 105$ a peice they cant be beat
