Here is my delema: I want an aggressive tire that is good in mud, snow, and on the road. My jeep is a daily driver so I need a good tire. It snows often so I need a tire that is decent in the snow, I know mud tires and snow don't always mix. I would really like swampers but don't know about road manners. As most, I am on a tight budget. I have done research and searched here but could not really find specs to my needs.
These caught my eye:
1. SuperSwamper Radial SSR.-good price and have OEM sizes.
2. SuperSwamper TrXus MT- 31" is the smallest will it fit on a stocker?
3. Maxxis Bighorn-Good price, sizes, a lot like the TrXus.
4. Firestone Destination MT- Good size, relates to BFG mud.

Not one of your choices, but I would feel remiss in my responsibility to newer users if I did not point this out.

BFG A/T
I am on my second set....80K on the first set, 100K on this set, getting to be time for new ones. I have used them on everything but deep mud and never had a problem.

Tire loyalties run deep....I am a BFG guy.

good luck.

Unless they don't meet your Off road needs. (I now nothing about snow) BFG AT's are a great all around. I got over 85K miles on a set on a full size excursion. I think they hold their own off road except for the extreme, specialized conditions.

Looks like they are not the same type as all the ones you list...so my opinion might not help you.

I have the Firestone's on my '01 Dodge Ram Off-Road and have had really good success with them. They seem to be wearing nicely and at a slow rate which is nice for a mud tire. I also just put a set of Mud Kings on my XJ and like them so far for a cheap mud tire.

I love my TrXus M/ts and i live were it snows a good amount as well. Theyre not too lound on the road (definently quiter then my old MTRs) and are great in the snow, ice, and offroad and the price isnt bad either.

The SSR's will probably be the worst in the snow of your options and also be the shortest lived road-mile wise. The other 3 choices are probably about a dead-heat IMHO.

I had a some Dunlop mud rovers that wore like iron on the road; maybe another option...

the trxus won't fit correct?

31's will rub slightly on a stock suspension (upcountry should be mucho better) without any trimming, bumpstop and steering stop adjustment.

I loaded a guy up the other day with 20 bags of 60lb concrete in a stock XJ with 31s. He drove away fine... yeah 31s will rub but ive seen lots of cherokees with 31s and stock.

Do 30 x 9.5 bighorns or BFG ATs

SSR is completely out of the question.

I'd run retreads over firestone.

Don't run 31s on a stocker, it can be done but why risk it/cut it for .5 inch of clearance.

I had a set of Bridgestone Dueler a/t REVO and man those were kick ass tires for sand, street, and watery road. dont get much snow out here in CA but they are rated good on snow too. look on tire-rack.com or tirerack.com.
I would deff. get a secong set of they made 33's.

I have the dueler A/t not revo on right now. bought the jeep about a year ago and they were new. I had the same tire just a titch smaller on my s10 (just before the jeep) three sets. If you drive alot of road and do it with quickness these tires will wear out super fast. Otherwise. Duelers are tits in the snow, ice, mud (not deep sludge) never had them in sand or rock but. seem to be a good all around tire with a good throw and nill noise on road

i member pepboys having that buy 3 get one free sale on their Dakato M/T tires, it came out to 299 for a set of 31's
