Can anyone give me some input on running Deavers with the HD Offroad shackle relocation boxes. I read somewhere that the Deavers are longer than any other XJ springs to help with the angle with the stock pocket. I have the Relocation boxes and cant really go back to the stock pockets now....

Thanks,
Tom

Deaver can build whatever you want. But to answer your question I would think you could use the rear holes or flip your shackle bracket around like its designed to do for longer springs/wheel bases.

Call Deaver up and see if they can make the springs with the same "eye to eye" measurement you have now. Alcan makes springs as well but not as nice as the Deavers.

For that price links are looking really good...

im running the G9 leafs with the shackle boxes and RE shackles. it rides great. and the flex is amazing. im running 14" shocks in the rear up thru the bed. its set up for 6" of uptravel and 12" down. i use the entire shock. i could most likely go longer but that would be alittle too much. while your under there some air bumps would be a nice addition.

12" downtravel? What is your shock angle like?

I was going to ask the same thing, to get 18" of travel out of a 14" shock you've gotta have some lean goin' on.

Yeah and thats not the easiest thing to setup in an xj without major sugery.

Sorry typo. 8". They are almost vertical.

Hellbilly did the hoops and the air bump mounts for me. Nice thing is I can still use the backseat.

Jim, Trouble has the same hoop as me, his was the first actual one made after the prototyping was done on mine.

i believe his is silver, other than that it looks just like this.

Double shear is nice, but sometimes it really is not needed. I would do it in double, I bet you could get by with single if all goes well and nothing binds, over extends, or breaks.

i guess we'll just talk about the hoop then lol.

once i get my cage in it will tie into the other side of the mount and become double shear. i am still up in the air about how i want the cage designed so that is why it is like this now. as it sits the bolt goes through a billet steel sleeve that is welded on both sides of the tube, and on the outside (next to the shock) there is a billet steel bung that is countoured to fit the tube and fully welded to the tube all the way around to give extra support to the highest stress point of it. it has been on there for almost 2 years and has not deflected a bit, all the welds are painted and none of the paint has even cracked. i don't exactly baby my XJ so if it was going to come apart it could have by now. but, like i said, just in case when my cage goes in it will be mounted in double shear for safety. in all likelyhood when i actually cage it the hoop will be cut out and go into another XJ, and my shocks will be fully tied into the cage.

Thanks for the details. I just need more $ before I can do the rear shocks. But when I do I will have a JKS Crossover mount for sale! haha Dont worry about butchering this thread with other info, I started it and would rather that then starting 4 other threads.
