i guess we'll just talk about the hoop then lol.
once i get my cage in it will tie into the other side of the mount and become double shear. i am still up in the air about how i want the cage designed so that is why it is like this now. as it sits the bolt goes through a billet steel sleeve that is welded on both sides of the tube, and on the outside (next to the shock) there is a billet steel bung that is countoured to fit the tube and fully welded to the tube all the way around to give extra support to the highest stress point of it. it has been on there for almost 2 years and has not deflected a bit, all the welds are painted and none of the paint has even cracked. i don't exactly baby my XJ so if it was going to come apart it could have by now. but, like i said, just in case when my cage goes in it will be mounted in double shear for safety. in all likelyhood when i actually cage it the hoop will be cut out and go into another XJ, and my shocks will be fully tied into the cage.
