Last night on ABC 7 Dan Noyes their investigative reporter did a piece on Jeep's Death Wobble. He should have come to NAXJA and did a search for information.

Agreed, should have bought a Prius

If I remember correctly, when I worked for Chrysler there was a recal or RRT issued to replace the steering stabilizer on the JK Wranglers. The kit included a new bracket and different stabilizer. It "fixed" the issue, but with our Jeeps we know that replacing the stabilizer doesnt fix it, just puts a band-aid over the issue.

Personally I've found on my Jeep that it doesn't matter what wears out but soon as the top tie rod end on the trac bar starts to wear out then all hell breaks loose and my Jeep gets the jitters. Everything else seemed to cause the obvious, pulling, banging, poor tire wear but no DW. Newer Jeeps are double sheer or have a bolt up top don't they? Not a TRE like XJs?

One time I was checking the front end of my rig and found that the nut holding the passenger side TRE had come loose and the TRE was sitting loose in the knuckle with a ton of play (thank goodness for cotter pins!). I didn't know how long it had been like that but I was amazed that it did not give me any DW whatsoever. And I don't have a steering stabilizer.

If it was the track bar it would have been trouble for sure.

I don't know if the JK track bar has legit problem or not, but after viewing the video, I'd say there is quite a bit of sensationalism and fear-mongering geared toward their target audience: hippie JK owners in the Bay Area.

And no the Jeep Cherokee model was not 1984-2004  :thumbdn:
