Dealership tech an a*****e about recall work

So I brought my jeep in for the e22 recall, as I was picking it up the mechanic walked up to the desk, threw the keys and work order at the service writer and said "make sure you tell this guy this place ain't a f***ing Midas" "I lost an hour fighting with that rusty POS" and walked away it was my jeep and he didn't know that. Before the service writer could say anything I yelled at the guy and asked him what his problem was and he said "warranty doesn't pay me to work on rusted sh**" and "you're lucky because I could have said the cat passed inspection and you wouldn't have gotten a new one" you know, I worked in a dealership body shop sometimes you beat the book and sometimes you lose. No need to be whiny about it..... The service writer kept apologizing and asked if he could get the manager and we could solve it I told him there's nothing to solve because I am not a whiny little b**ch like him and I won't be coming back for $120 an hour service on my 96 jeep anyways.... I left it at that maybe he was having a bad day hope the writer left it alone too I wasn't going to get his bosses involved for a free oil change or whatever token they would have offered me id hate to think he still got reprimanded anyways when I didn't complain....

Is this just a rant? Or are you hoping for insight? Just FYI- it doesn't lend credibility to a forum user when they're new to the club, and you have only 15 posts, and you post a large rant like this. Reminds me of the people who will have bad customer service with some company then they join 5 forums just to talk trash.

I work at a dealership, and while I don't personally do any warranty work (I'm an entry-level tech for now), warranty pay is usually awful. Many sometimes difficult jobs which might pay, say, 4 hours, will sometimes take much longer and there is no negotiating the time with Chrysler that I know of.

Now imagine that you have a full schedule of vehicles waiting to be worked on (some of the level 3 techs I work with are booked 2 weeks out), and you get stuck working on a rig that is either -heavily modified or -really old, corroded or damaged.

There's no excuse for the tech being an ass in person, but I know the struggle. I've started jobs that pay, say an hour, and it escalates because of crappy aftermarket parts or you break bolts/other parts.

Just something to think about man!

bring it back for something stupid and say "ever since you did the recall this random thing is happening". he should get the job since no other techs will want his comeback. he will probably spend at least 15 minutes looking for nothing, which isn't a lot of time but maybe he will miss out on some cake work new car prep or something. it should give you the warm and fuzzys for most of the ride home.

Somehow I don't get the feeling that he joined just to trash the dealer...especially seeing as to how he didn't mention any names.

Since his name is still in black, I don't think he joined - period.

Chalk it up to the guy having a bad day. Flat rate techs get burned quite often on warranty work. I can empathize with the guy, but he had no right to talk a bunch of crap in front of any customer.

Didn't know post count was the deciding factor on why someone would join a forum... Didn't everyone start with 0 posts? I don't get on much and yeah I was blowing off some steam and if I joined to trash the dealer I would have named them. Actually I joined this forum to let people know about Chrysler giving away plate frames and poked around an posted a few times. Sorry for that. I guess.

I did get to bring it back lol the cel came on...... I would have just let it go since I got my new cat anyways but turns out the guy cut the wire to the O2 sensor when working on it.... I so wanted to tell him that it looks like he isn't cut out for Midas either or something along those lines but I let it go... They soldered the wire back together.

excuse us meager folk who would rather put money in savings or ya know...living essentials rather than an online community at the moment.

The NAXJA yearly membership is $35, so less than a night out with your wife or girlfriend on a Friday night. The money paid for a yearly membership is used for land use, trail maintenance, and other ventures to help keep the outdoors open for OHV use. For as expensive a sport off-roading is, it always surprises me how many people use a lack of funds as reason not to join and support the off-road resources.

Heck, any time I go off road I end up spending way more than $35. I'm perfectly fine giving up one weekend of off-roading to pay for a membership knowing that perhaps my membership fees might allow me to still have a place to ride the next time I want to go out.

As an example of how NAXJA's money is used, next weekend the SEC is going to present the Land Between the Lakes National Forest, and the Uwharrie National Forest each a check for $700 to use for trail maintenance and improvement. That is why a $35 membership to NAXJA is worthwhile.

Also, ( I know it's not the proper way to start a sentence) we are a club first, way before being just an online community. There are plenty of just online communities out there, do your homework before you start degrading us as just one of those. Other than that the previous post explains the rest pretty well.
