This has been done over and over and over but its my first attempt at a helpfull write up so i wanted it to be easy. The First Problem I had was that with the larger u bolts, i would need A different Mounting plate. I took 2 off a waggy for 5 bucks. Next was my drive shaft. I had a custom c.v. shaft built when i put on a RE 4.5 inch kit on a year ago. I was hoping the shaft could slip enough to accomadate the longer dana 44 housing, but even all the way in, it was too long. Also I put the 2 degree shims on that came with the bolt kit. See any problems? Its my first time using them so im not very sure.

I am getting ready to do the same swap, just need to rebuilt the 44 before it goes in. Good thing I read this and see I would need new mounting plates for the larger ubolts.

yea me too, in my hurry to get the axle before the yard closed i didnt grab the ubolts or the plates

do yourself a favor and order a new ubolt kit- cant imagine the 20 year old bolts not being rusted to hell. mine cost 30 something bucks(procomp) through R.E. and came with 2 degree shims
