Dana 44 Axle?

From what I've read here, I think most people would agree with that sentiment.

You have the 8.25, ergo no ABS. The 8.25 is a stronger, better axle than the D35.

well, that really depends if it's the 27 or 29 spline 8.25

Even a 27 spline 8.25 is a step up from a D35, I would think. But it's a moot point since ABN146 has a 97, ergo a 29-spline axle.

Well... According to Yucca-man's webpage on axles the 29 spline was used starting late 96 so I hope this applies to my 97.

I have yet to hear or read that the Dana 35 is better than the 8.25 regardless if its 27 or 29 spline!

my D35 is 100X better than any 8.25, there now you have read it but it does'nt make it true

Some 96 8.25s are 27-spline, some are 29. Your 97 8.25 is a 29-spline axle.

One more question.

By looking at the picture Is there any way one can tell if it is a LSD? Besides the 35 tag I don't see any other tags stating if it is.

I plan to pull the cover, drain and add new oil in the next few days. I just wish I knew if it was a LSD before so I would know if I need to buy FM.

If you want to see if it's a limited-slip without pulling the cover, jack up both rear wheels and spin one of them. If the other spins in the opposite direction, you have an open differential. If it spins in the same direction, you have a limited-slip.

I'll bet you that that "3 5" tag means that it has 3.55 gears, and not that it's a d35.
