Zowie!

When are getting this trip report?

nice -- glad you all are allright. get any bondo fragmants in your eyes from Yella's last a-pillar venture? :shhh:

Mike
well now you know how far you can go before flopping. What part of the trail did you flop on?

Well I don't know actually, like I said on Cojeeps.net, the jeep stayed stable most the way down the hill. But we cuaght something and it flipped us on the side hard. It did t lay over easy at all. I did t learn a damn thing except how much I really hate snow now. And landing on logs hurts. I'll try and get sone damage pics tonight. Imma try and get the body pulled away from the cage and whatnot. Were both good. Drove it home fine just a bit cold. Sucks to happen, especially in something stupid like that, but glad we both crawled out alright. Big thanks to stang for helpin out

Shaddup stroker-boy...... no bondo in that fix except to fill in the spot welds at the top of the pillar. :moon:

Well I gotta find some threads on replacing the a-pillar and possibly the b-pillar as well. There is no way to do anything with the a-pillar and I'm having a hell of a time getting the b-pillar and roofline to even remotely come out away from the cage. Wonderi g how the jeep would look as a convertible?! Lol.

Thats a good write up. I think my pillar is a bit more banged up but we will see. I'm trying to upload some damage pics now

Ouch. The "A" pillar is pretty similar in damage, but that "B" pillar is pretty tweaked.

I'd first try to throw a tree-strap around it, then get a buddy with a winch and see if you can simply pull the "B" pillar out enough to flatten that hood metal and then hopefully that'd be far enough to get a door to seat on it or come close to seating on it.

That "A" pillar might need to be cut completely out this time - dunno if that inner section could tollerate another pull........

Ya it's hard to tell from the pics. But most of the a-pillar, the whole roofline, and part of the b-pillar are all pressed up against the cage. I've been going at it with the pry bar but I'm just not sure how much more "ass" I can put Into it. I dont have much to work with lol. But I'll keep at it and get pics of the progress up tomorrow or later tonight. The big factor is if a windsheild will be doable. If not. I may need to look at investing in some more tube....

Yup, that was totally not something I was expecting to see as I came around that corner behind you guys... Crazy. Glad you guys are ok, though. Looking forward to going out again soon!

Lemme know if you need any help cutting, prying, torching or hammering. :wave1:

Well. Here's where I'm at for the night. I can't get the windsheild out so I can't do any more yanking or prying. But here's progress shot from the front so far...

After removing the stripping off the windsheild I found this crack/broken weld where the a-pillar meets the hood panel and the body. Curious as to how bad of a sign that is?

That crack was forming back when I flopped it. I put a few tack welds on it to hopefully keep it from spreading.

Truth be told, that unibody has seen alot of stress from the cowl forward. It really needs to be tied in to the cage through the dash, under the hood and through the header panel to a custom tube bumper set up. Or, time taken to weld on a full set of unibody stiffeners from the rails forward to the front of the rig.

Might be time to get serious with the unibody...... or possibly look at retiring the 'ol Heep and swap it all over to a better body.......
