For a jeep a 5.3 is plenty. The iron/aluminum 6.0 is great if you are going for power, but the 5.3 with a set of headers is a solid package for a rig. Save your money and run the 5.3
We'll think about it...Cute. That baby of course, not you. Oh, and get a hair cut.

I had a blast over the weekend, drove the Jeep like I stole it.
If you're going to go to the effort of a V8 swap, I'd all day go with an LQ9.
More money up front yes, but it's going to be the same amount of effort, and from guys I've talked to who have done both, they wish they had just gone with the 6.0L off the bat (as far as ability for top end numbers, easier tunability, aftermarket support edging more towards them, etc.).
Not that a 5.3L wouldn't be nice, and a bit more HP...but to me 6.0L all day long![]()
You should find an online gear ratio calculator to run the numbers.Gears and choices...My truck has 3.73 gears and had 31s stock with 35s that is around 4.20 ratio to equal stock with 31s and 3 73...4.10 and 31s is the other stock option to equal that is about a 4.45...seeeew basically 4.10 to equal what it was and 4.56 to get what factory 410 would had been...I'm leaning towards 4.56 as that allows a jump to 37s and not run out of gear.
Truck accelerates fine unloaded 800+lbs if torque at 1200 rpm is rather forgiving especially with a 6 speed auto compared to the old 4spds , but I have not pulled the big grades and that is where I want my performance I care not about fuel economy ...lol...only fools buy a 7000lb truck for mpg ...I may wait to order the 4.56 until I get to test drive it on the 35s in the hills ...Truck just became money eating toy number Two .
Yeah I think the new rig is going to be 113-115 range.[/QUOTE
That is a good length ...short shyt was20 years ago when a 93.5 YJ wheelbase and 33s got it done.

I think so. Looks good on the rig too. Looks really balanced and stout.
Picked up a tow rig this weekend. 2500 Burbank with the 8.1. Shooting to create a gas shortage single handedly.
8.1 gas ... Hey, is Montrose County pretty flat ?
G-Maps say yes.
