Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Lol she ran up monarch holding back pulling the trailer and loaded with rest of crap from Denver.
Ran springs to montrose on just under half a tank cruising with ease. She only makes like 330 horse but rated 520tq with this trans. She'll be aight.

Thought 330 and 450 ?... I wish I had got a big suv instead of a pickup for the room inside the Excursion would be my choice.

I keep looking at diesel Excursions. That and diesel vans. They would make good camping tow rigs.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Good 7.3 scursion=$$$. Pos 6.0 scursion=stranded on the side of the road. And diesel vans are absolutely the worst to work on. My dad had a 4x4 e250 he's turned into his camp van. It's a pretty slick setup with those. And the idea of just pulling up somewhere and everything is ready to go is cool.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Anyone buildibg a 78-79 hp 60 there are a set of used rcv shafts on CL for $1750 if they are the 300m that would be a good deal on what seller says were only used a few runs...lol...if 4340 may as well spend a few more on new .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

How big is the tank?

36 gal tank. Put 17 gallon in up the street from house which was 262 into the trip. That's just over 15 to the gallon with a trailer. Over monarch, blue mesa, and cerro. I think the gasser did ok.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That's very good with a trailer. I know US 24/50 to Montrose well. How is the oil consumption? Last guy I knew that had a Vortec 8100 (big block 496) said it used a quart every 1000 miles and GM thought it was normal. Cough. Cough. Said it would pull everything he ever wanted, but he finally bought a Dmax. He was hauling a camper trailer all over the U.S. Once he bought the Dmax he stopped trading up every time he wore out tires... He went the 5.3, 6.0, 8.1, and Dmax route...

I'm also at about 480 on this tank with a little left. I'll see what my tank overall was when I fill it. Should be about 14-15 I think.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

It's going to sit for a bit now. Waiting to hear back from my tire guy about some 10ply toyos so I can get rid of these dumb p series tires. Going to get some tint, basic tuneup, oil change, brakes, dif service, wipers, and a good scrub down on the interior before she moves too much more.

I think you need to send us some pictures with your new tow rig & what you're towing with it! Good deal on the 10 ply. I can't imagine why anyone would have P series on a tow rig.

Yeah I have no idea what he was thinking.

Run a can of BG 44k thru. Some of GM's big blocks had some funky injector issues.
