Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, the whole rig needs some type of paint job. Not quite sure what I want yet. The paint is looking pretty bad, the clear coat is peeling and the paint is fading in spots. I saw a cool paint job the other day. the front was flat black, then flames, then the original white paint.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Damn you Chris!!!!!

I might be picking up a V8 WJ in need of a transmission after I get back from NTC. My neighbor is looking to ditch it. The XJ won't be going though, but the Passat would be on the chopping block if it happens.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

no accounting for taste, man. ;) the 545rfe's are a dime a dozen since dodge used them in 1/2 tons -- should be a pretty easy fix.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, if it pans out the WJ will be gear hauler and the XJ the fun crawler. My wife likes WJ's so I'm hoping to slowly edger her into it. Then we could take both up.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ill watch a civic wheel if the editing is.good and the wheeling isn't garbage....

Re: The Colorado BS thread

was able to squeeze 1/2" for bumper bolts. will prob still replace w/grade 8 tho.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well... For what it is, the green one is a nice example of work insofar as can be seen from the photos. Looks like something that might have been a concept vehicle and that is the goal. What would need to be seen are the details. Is the uniframe reinforced for example. If not, it will be taco time.

Would I have one? No thank you.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Need opinions.
What are the strongest 3/4-3/4 heims you can buy?

As some remember. I just replaced all my heim joints less than 200 miles ago.
Well as of the past couple days. I've noticed te the axle side heim on the trac bar is already shot.
Supposed to be a chromoly heim.
I don't understand how or why it's already shot.

I need something with stupid strength....
And I need it ASAP!
Any opinions on the strongest heims out there?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Are the heims actually bad or is there a fitment issue with the bolts? correct misalignment spacers.
Continual heim failure makes me want to look for something to keep causing the failures.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

As far as I know, it's only the axle side trac bar heim.
If you watch the heim, you can tell its already getting worn out...
It has play in the heim.

What would cause that ONE to keep going bad?

I noticed the other day that my right side pulling issue is the passenger front tire being a lot stiffer than the driver side. That's just when I jack up the front and spin them with my hands.
But that shouldn't have anything to do with the heim.
I only drive it 5 miles to the shop and 5 miles home.
Say everyday for the past 3 weeks.
That's 210 miles..... Yeah. F'n Stupid!
