Re: The Colorado BS thread

I have the full HD offroad as my front middle rear base the middle and rear have plenty of support beyond that base . The front Hooligan plates I do not beleive cover the entire bottom from curve at firewall all the way to the front crossmember and I'm about positive they do not touch the inside of the front rail ...lol...if they did I would have bought them vs hours of bending cutting and fitting . The focus of my dilemma was what do I really need for plate up front the sides are .135 the full bottom .125 this.plus the existing.rail.is .199-.209 in an area that has no rock contact and is tied into a cage , but I am no Engineer so I could be wrong and be slight on the material thickness ...lol...a little late in the game to worry about a few pounds of steel with a 6,000 lb rig .

I started doing some of mine. Doesn't go back super far yet. Mostly to tie in the bumper. But I did too and bottom in 1/8". My thinking was that it should help minimize twisting forces on, so 1/8" seemed plenty

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The Liberty is going back into the dealer tomorrow. Indefinitely. They will replace the seat cover. They said they even took it out of the box and checked it this time. Now it's also idling rough and doing a no start thing once in a while. No codes thrown. I'm not optimistic they'll be able to fix it.
What year is it and specs?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

It's a 2012 Limited with 48,000 miles.

Not sure on my Mom's Year Liberty 2012-2013 I think it had some abs issue that the dealer wanted $1500 to fix my Dad bought the part on Ebay and put it in for $150...But other than that it has had no issues .

My thougt on it was there is no rock contact and if the plate is made to fit right against the rail you have .125-.135 backed by .074 rail totaling .199-.209 so it is thicker than 3/16th ...now if it has gaps it would probably need thicker . I will.go a bit thicker driver side since the track bar is on this side I also will be moving it forward and will fully weld it back no bolts .

I work with a guy that owns a 2011 and he's not had any issues with his. When I researched it the only major issues I found were HVAC problems (and mine works great now) and the trans got beat up for only being a 4 speed (which would be fine if I didn't climb the pass each night on the way home). I'm hoping that mine will be ok when this gets sorted out. I really don't mind the way the thing looks and I've gotten a bit spoiled with all the features on the inside (heated seats, bluetooth, etc.).

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah I was surprised at all the stuff that thing had in it . They look a lot better than the 1st generation as well .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Over kill got the best of me afte plating the bottom front rail in .125 I slot cut some 4x4 .250 angle and fit that to the rail and burnt it home ..lol...no questions now if it will be adequate. I will do the driver side the same it will give a solid point to weld my track bar to .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

George is going to NEED a V8 soon enough just to bring the power to weigh ratio back to near stock.

1-ton-tank :D

When the 4.0 dies that will be an option , but for now the 5.13s plus the.5.0.Atlas have no lack of Torque to move it ...But Lubes TJ has the.Lq9 thought alive .

Yeah, that's his 10th-ish motor by now?

I've entertained the idea of a V8 in the buggy.

Cost is one thing, and redoing a bit of work is another.

If I we're going that route, it would most likely be LQ9 with some work to bump it up to 450HP or so, 4L80E, and a Hero Case :D

Oh a v8 is not happening real soon I have about had my fill of building and not wheeling , so if it died this year another 4.0 would be dropped right in so I could use the Jeep . I like the cool factor of a v8 , but for most trails it is not much help ...Besides I have about had my fill of Black burgers , Tingling wrists , and cuts & burns so a v8 transplant is not work I want to tackle for about 2 years .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Jeep is out in the storage lot so I can not get a measurement on the fuel line size for the nylon quick lock that goes from pump to hard line ...it is wither'5/16th or 3/8th . If anyone knows what the size is I could order the AN quickl ock adapters without making the trip to the Jeep ...My Jeep is a 99 the returnless set up . The gas tank raise left just enough line to hook up the line , but not enough to route it well .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Scrap was up to $90/ton today.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The Liberty finally threw a code today while coming home from work. It was barely running and the CEL started flashing so I shut it down and had it towed to the dealer. So now we'll see what the deal is. Really trying to figure out if I need to cut my losses and move on though.
