Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well on his way to earning the nickname "Miss Ellie".

:D

When I read this I thought of Ellie Mae but she was kinda hot right? Flores will be Ellie Meh.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well, decided to swap out light fixtures in the garage.

I had 11 4' T8 fixutures (and 2, 4' 4 bulb fixtures, but those are the house's lights).

Costco had some 4' LED lights, and they went on sale. Normally they're 39.99 each, but until 2/22 they're $32.99.

Bought one to see what it was like and compared it to the T8's.

Lumens wise, one fixture of the Fiet 4' LED lights is rated for 3700 Lumens at 37 watts (essentially half of what I was running wattage wise with the T8's). The T8's are rated at ~3000 lumens PER bulb, at 80 watts.

Well, I honestly can say that the LED's in my eyes, are no dimmer than the T8's.

The light is a much mroe natural light to me, and not as "cold feeling".

The ironic part...they're both rated at 4100k.

The fixtures were easier-ish to hang and quite a bit lighter.

It's SO much nicer to have light that comes on instantly, doesn't have to warm up, and doesn't flicker or buzz.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

How cold does it get in that geeeerage?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I have a couple of those in my garage as well, and I like them. Ive only tried them at temps down to ~0* since we dont seem to be getting any cold weather since that last snap we had, but they were on and working fine. I "think" they are better than the Walmart specials I had in their place, but I think its really a wash. The light is a bit brighter, but as you said as well, the color is really much better than what I had.

I will say, Im enjoying the banter of the ol Spork988761, makes me think we have a Napoleon complex going on with how hes responding at this point.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yep, I'm loving them so far.

Nice, 100% light a moment after the switch is thrown.

I see your following that thread on Pirate.

He's starting to sounds like a salesman..."but the numbers show" etc. etc.

Uh huh, yeah...numbers. Show me the raw engineering and spectral output graphs comparing two of the same quality LED and T8 light.

Guys can spec, install, and sell all they want (which is what I'm starting to wonder if that's what he does)...and don't have the design and engineering of it like they think they do.

Trying to say a T8 light fixture has a "reflector" is laughable. It's a stamped piece of metal painted white. Does it reflect some light? Yes. But to call it a "reflector" in the lighting sense is laughable.

Apparently the house I'm in was built as a reflector too! :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Everyone ready for the great Snowpocalypse of 2015? The way people are talking, it makes me wonder if they realize it snows in Colorado.

The radio said 6-10'' this morning over the next two days, coworkers are now saying 12-18'', and Im sure by tonight it will be 24-48''.

Im going to forecast 3'', when we get hammered, come dig me out to laugh in my face.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'm with ya. I'm going with less than 2". Cold as balls. And wind.

Although it's been super nice, so now that the truck is dropped off and I'm in a rental, specifically a Chrysler 200, it would snow it's ass off.

Exactly my thoughts. It doesn't feel like snow to me...air just isn't right.

I'm predicting a few inches at most, but mainly more wind and cold than anything.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah I don't see white snow clouds I see dark storm clouds. Some rain out here in weld. Lotsa wind gusts and temp plummeted quick. But it's colorado. Be 60* tomorrow.

Of the two forecasts I pulled up one says 6-8 for Saturday and 6-8 for Sunday the others only says 3 for saturday and sunday . Neither of thse are exactly the Blizzard of March 03 ,which was not even predicted to dump many feet of snow ...Man I would love a good blizzard to get a few last good runs out of the boggers .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well I reteact my statement. Enough snow in weld to get us shut down for the night. Get to relax and enjoy a break before another 15 days straight.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah it's not horrible snow up here. Just tons of wind to ice things up. I got that stupid 200 home from the shop fine. But shit in ditches everywhere.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I remember the blizzard of '03. My wife was in Reno, watching the TV and calling me to laugh about it. I did not have a digital camera for that storm.

A few years later, we got some more snow...

I drove to work from Bailey,Co to Golden ,Co the night that started and made it home to Bailey the next morning driving a GrandAm ...lol...I blew off Two traffic lights to keep moving and was dodging every slow moving assclown going up us285 as to keep from slowing down and getting stuck when i got to the last road on the big hill going up to the house i just drove the car straight into snow bank in the parking area at base of the hill by the lake and walked the hill 3 days later I returned to dig the car out . The melt off in spring from that snow made for some big mud holes in slaughterhouse I would love to see that again .
