collection of jeep stuff(build/blog)

I got it in last night all by my lonesome.. wasn't too bad. The biggest bitch was the crossmember for some reason. Took some cohersing to get it to line up... Pics with info a bit later today

Not sure what happened. Got a lot of binding with the front Spartan now. Going to tear into it this weekend. It's popping like crazy. Didn't do this with the 231 but I still need to do the linkage for the 241. Need longer all thread for the boostwerks linkage.

might not be the spartan? maybe the tcase is not fully engaging or the chain is jumping?
or all that extra torque is making things crazy....

I know I have a feeling the t case isnt fully in 2wd need to get the all thread from fastenal tomorrow. I manually shifted it and went wheeling yesterday around the mountains here. Everything is perfect in 4wd.. although steering is a bit harder oath the torque increase. Wasn't expecting it so I'll probably drill the pump out another 1/64" and maybeee do a wj pump swap.. I have a **** ton of all thread at my work but it's all coarse thread stuff. Need fine.
besides my front end is well past due for its oil change. I'll be checking through everything anyways and finally slapping some paint on the axle shafts

Manually shift it with locking pliers into 2wd

I got the linkage info all squared away.. Bought some 3/8" fine thread All thread rod from Fastenal.. Luckily they had it! although not in stainless.. Cut it down to a 10" piece and adjusted it until it functioned as so. So for those curious Boostwerk's kit works with the 241 also. Just needs a longer rod..
As for the front locker issue... I haven't dug into it yet. I ordered a spring and pin kit for the front spartan for $25 today. Also thinking my front driveshaft being near it's limit isn't a good thing.. Think it has about 1/2" of slip left. Going to be ordering front and rear DS from Tatton very soon.. Uncle Sam sent me some spending cash

Annnnyways.. Went wheeling and camping these last couple days out at Shaver Lake.. Left Santa Cruz about 8:30 pm and after a few stops we finished setting up camp a few miles down dinkey creek road around 130 am

Was in the high 20s.. low 30s. Luckily we had some new camping gear Mariah rocked the 0 degree bag Puppy cuddled up with us lol
We hit Bald mountain trail as it's the only one open at this point and is actually open year round. It's a really short trail and could be ran in about an hr. It has an intersection at the start of the trail and to the right is the difficult side ... although it was not that difficult. Could be done openopen on 31s for sure. There were a couple kids from Fresno out there one guy had 31ATs on a stock tacoma and made it. Pretty neat creek crossing along the way we stopped and let Coal play in. There is a huge beautiful view on the top of this granite slap after you start to loop back around. We ate lunch there and I forgot a pic.. Was an incredible view of all the nearby mountains but to get to the top of the slab I'd say you need at least a front locker or a pretty happy right foot..

My spotter :)

Also heard from a local guy there has been talk of closure of bald mountain coyote lake and red lake trails for repairs and clean up... not sure how true but might be something to look into

all the hard works really paid off, the rig looks great Patrick.

I love granite rock mountains. There is just something about all that grey rock that is very majestic.

Got me a new tree strap. My old 6' strap started fraying.
Cheap smittybilt snatchblock. Gonna spring for a nice one at some point.

Finally tied my cage in to the frame. The b pillar tie in was too close to get anything vertical. So I put some c channel and a little gusset for those. The rear c has a lot more room. Added some plate and tube. I still need to do some interior work. Add some tube to the QP armor and I need to bring the D section down so it's nice and tight and in line with the rest of the roof.

Going to be chopping the $300 rig and back halfing it with a tailgate 33s on 3" front locker and painting it a dark gloss grey. Will do the 2x6 sliders and fab some bumpers.. Maybe tube bumpers. This will be for Mariah.. Orignally was going to continue building her ZJ but it's much more practical to build the XJ.

Plan to get around starting after the Rubicon

Why do you people destroy perfectly good 2 door xjs?
