COFest 06'

Bringing this one back up because....I heard rumors that it was going to be HQd in B-V this year. That would be cool because we are planing on coming out but are either going to stop in Durango on our way out or back to let my kid ride the steam train.

I wanna get in on the best wheeling though so I really need to know when the best trails are going to be run.

Yeah, we'll be HQd at Chalk Creek Campground about 5 miles south of BV.As soon as we get a tentative trail schedule worked out we'll get it posted. We'll try to accomodate the "out -of- staters" as best we can as far as trail schedules go. :)

This is something that is really starting to interest me. What are some of the trails that would likely be run out there? Any more details about the area, I have never been out weeling in CO, but have seen lots of pics on ProjectXJ's web site.

I won't need much accomodation as far as schedules. I just need to know what is running when. I am flexible on when I can come out and when we want to ride the train. I doubt we can do the whole week off work so as soon as you know then I can plan around you guys.

I'm definitely in on this overnighter. Had a great time at COFest last year... can't wait for this year!

The only thing that could have made last year better would have been to have better weather during the evenings. I'm covered for this year though.

note to self: don't park near JohnJohn at the campground. :laugh3:

Matt you realize the overnighter is to Mt. Blanca right? The toughest mountain trail in Colorado? You actually have to use 4wd low range to get up there. :D

ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh......you mean Bob's product is actually ment for real world wheeling action....:laugh2:

It's the only trail I put serious though into the fact that you can die on it. Jaws 2 is much less scary going up at one in the morning. Going down during the day is a much different story.

How did JP mag put it… “It’s a top ten trail that you can die on.”

I don't think that I ever need to do that trail again, although it was fun irritating the backpackers that hiked in by offering them blended drinks.... and a table to sit down at.

Hammer is right. Blanca has the potential to turn UGLY in a hurry. Although the repairs to Jaws II in recent years have made it a much safer obstacle. With a group and good spotters there isn't much to worry about.

Blanca is an awesome trail and the scenery there is very cool. Here are some pics from '03.
