Well said TedwickOK so not to often do I take the time to write out/up a response to issues such as this one. However I feel strongly about this. In discussion with anothermember (not forum user), I think what I said to that person said best. I feel that some of the newer/more recent
members/users (red/black letters) seem to forget that Cleghorn road always had public access, but the off shoot trails (bypasses) were always, and will for now be off limits. And the off road community (not pointing fingers at
, but every forum, and off road club that frequents Cleghorn) continues to run the off shot/bypasses (myself included), and we as a community want to cry about closure, but thats as far as we take it. Start getting pro active. Go to the adopt a trail meetings. Write letters to your Government, but the most important thing, stay legal on the trail, and show the public that were not a bunch of ass holes with 4x4s, and bad attitudes, but up standing, and strong contributors to our land, and community. If your not willing to do that the shut the *#*@ up.
Peace
Ted
You can go to
http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sanbernardino/recreation/ohv/index.shtml to get the latest Vehicle Use Maps. Unfortunately right now the site is under maintenance. sigh.
Just like driving through any state, its your responsibility to know the local laws as it is to know the current legal use of trails. If anyone here attended the SBNF AAT meetings in Corona as announced by karstic, then you would have received your own map. Greg from SBNF is a GREAT guy that heavily supports offroading and keeps our trails open. If it wasn't for him, you'd see MORE trails closed. if you don't know him, you do not have a leg to stand on when it comes to understanding what it takes to keep trails open.
