A: There are no "Hummers" in the military unless they are given by female personnel.

B: What is a humvee? :dunno:

Thanks :D

....this thread has a totally misleading title....

All this bickering over a name isn't what I expected at all :D

/disappointed

There's no need for a replacement because of the sale. Hummer did not own the H1 designs. Hummer was reponsible for the H2 and H3, AM General built the H1 and HMMWV.

AM General merely leased the use of the name and design points to GM. And I guess GM is selling the right to a Chinese company. I wonder if there are conditions to this 'sale', or will the new owner be able to do what they want with the vehicles. Let's face it, the sale would probably be worthless if they can't sell the product to the US. Who else outside of North America or the Middle East can afford to buy or feed these beasts?

They'll have the H2 and H3. The H1 was never given to GM. All it had to do with GM was the engine. First the 6.2L diesel, then the 6.5L turbo once it was civilianized, and for a short time, the non LBZ 6.6 Duramax. AM General was producing the Hummer. GM made a deal with them for the usage of the name on vehicles designed by GM, the H2 and H3. The Hummer was then renamed the H1 so the Hummer name could be applied to the overall brand.

Jeeps are awesome....Hummers suck....IMO

Good contribution to raise this thread from what may well have been its demise.
