CB antenna mount

MMIXJ - Did you have to drill a hole big enough for a screw on Coax end or did you use some other type of deal where the coax attaches to the antenna?

i soldered the wires to the mount, as i needed to first thread it up/down/through the hatch, so i bought a cable w/o an end on one side.
it wasn't exactly easy, but the finished result is very clean and the mount has proven to be very stout and out of the way...
so the hole was for the stud on the bracket and i think the cable threaded through it (sorry, it has been a while).

i'll check to see if i took any pix during the install.

It might work on a YJ or a TJ light too maybe...Can you see if it will...got to be someone at your work that has a YJ or a TJ to put it up against to see if it'll work...Just a thought...It might have to be cut/modified where it mounts behind light on body...I sold my 97 XJ...I might get another 97+ XJ or might get a 97+ TJ and the mount looks like it will work with either one...

John4wd...

Might as well throw my nam in the hat. I haven't got a CB yet and one of the reasons is I haven't seen an antenna mount I liked... until now. Is there any particular advantage of getting a left or right side mount?

I'd like one too! And a right side one for my 2M/440 dual-band antenna!

Oooh... Good call on that one. Put me down for one on each side if they end up being made to fit both lights :)

Wait a minute. I mounted my Dual band on the Left(drivers side), and was going to mount the CB on the Right?? Is there a correct protocol for this?? :sunshine:

I would like to place my name on the list for one too. Have a 96 XJ so if you can make them for that year count me in. PM me at [email protected].

I'll take one - Got my Mount for my 4ft. firestik and it looks 'goofy' from the fender mount...

Will.

thats awsome that one little idea like that could show so much intrest. I will also take one for an 01. are you definetly going to make them? im ordering a cb this month and i will hold off for this mount !

thank you

Do you have any pictures or info on how you routed the antenna cable, where you put it in the cab etc? Is your entire CB in the handset or is there more under the dash?

The cobra cb I installed ( 75 WX ST ) had a small "connector box" that I mounted behind the HVAC control panel . Then I routed my coaxil under the center console under the carpet (on top of the transmission tunnel) then under the rear seat. At that point I routed it under the door trim and rear 1/4 panel cover to an existing plastic grommet beside the left tailight. hope this helps.
Oh yeah i'm getting 25 mounts laser cut, I put my order in today so I should have some available next week. I'll let all the pre 97 guys know after this weekend if the mount will fit.

Later AJ

Another good place (on post-'97s, anyway) for the transmitter box that that radio uses is inside the centre console. It screws in without any trouble between the storage bin and the front face (sloped part) of the console; the handset connector just pokes out of the front of the face. Using a 90-degree adapter on the antenna connector may be a good idea, though.

Woohoo! Any idea on the price before shipping yet?
