So, the other day I take the heep into the jeep dealership for an oil change, we have a family friend who is the service mannager there, and he hooks us up whith deals, the oil changes are usually cheaper than what I can do them for, plus i don't have to deal with getting rid of the oil. We leave and the wife drives, she never gets a chance to drive a stick anymore and always want to drive the XJ when she can. The next morning I leave for work, get out on the road and look at my gauges and my oil pressure is at ZERO!!!!, WTF did they forget to put oil in, or leave the drain plug out? So I pull over to check the obvious, pop the hood, and the first thing I see is my oil pressure sending unit is snapped off, I wasn't squirting oil all over but all the same I took it back home, stole the wifes minivan and went work. Called our freind and told him what happened and he took care of me, got a brand new sending unit for free when I got off work and spent about 5 minutes doing the repair. The tec got his ass chewed and I'm happy. What happened to quality service, or just people giving a damm about what they do? The Tec had to have noticed when he snapped it off. Well that's the end of my rant.:soapbox:

I had a car that needed warranty service work done to it years ago (head gasket blew) The dealership called me and said it was done. I’m a few miles from the dealer ship and turn on the on ramp to I-25 and no power steering I was one handing it and about went over the steep embankment. I was like that is strange. Everything looked ok then I started to notice a nasty smell and no power steering. I pulled over and popped the hood and oil is all over the engine bay. I took my finger and smell it and it’s power steering fluid. All over the place fallow the lines back and the Cheep ass power steering fluid box were the hose connects plastic nipple is broke off? And on the end it looks like glue or epoxy of some sort. My dad was behind me and he said that looks like super glue. Ya they broke off the nipple trying to get the hose off to change the head gasket and just supper glued it back on. I WAS PISSED. My dad a test engineer at the time scrapes some of it off puts it in a tube and took it to work he not only broke down the chemical compound it listed the company that made it. That same day it happed we called the dealer to come get the car and we drove back in my dad’s truck and O man I was pissed. My dad had to take over because I was ready to start throwing stuff at them. They gave me the whole we didn’t do it? I was like that’s not factory option supper glue the tank together thing. I wanted to look at the guys tool box that did the work. They had to tow the car back in order the part install it. Got that gets me all worked up just thinking about that. Had I gone over the embankment the care would have had pretty good damage and I could have been hurt. They could have had a big time law suite on them had that happened then they try and give me the run over about it not being there fault tell I started to call the cops and told my dad to get a lawyer. I had the service manager there the dealer manager there it got ugly. I’m not a sew this person that person over pitty stuff but try and make it sound like it’s my fault for hiding a piss pore work job on there half O game on guys.

My jeep had to go in for that heat shield recall they had a few years back on the XJ’s and when they had it they backed my jeep into something and tried to hide that deal. Normally they pull the jeep in do the work then park it well for some reason they washed it all up and backed it into a spot that I just got in with out seeing the damage. I noticed it when we got up to Estes I was like WTF IS THAT? I was on the phone to the dealer in seconds PISSED. Then they ordered me a new corner trim section but it was black and not the silver color matched one and told me I could take it to get painted. UM no you can go get it painted then install it. It was my DD at the time and stock so I wanted it to look nice. So after they dicked me around for a month and 3 different attempts to order the right part and then having them send it off for painting I lifted the rig and ended up tossing it in the garage. HAHAHAHAH waist my time I’ll waste your time.

jdogg, BTW love the user name photo. I was lucky my problem didn't almost get me killed, like yours. A few months ago I took my wifes minivan in for a front break job, our friend hooked us up with a deal and we pick up the van when its done, driving home she starts honking and flashing her lights at me, we pull over and she said that the van is hard to stop, we swap cars and I check to see what she is talking about, and she was right, it was a Bitc# to stop, I take it home and call our friend and he sends out towtruck and takes care off us as usual and throws in a rear break job to make up for the inconveience. I never heard what the problem was, but they fixed it and did right by me. If it wasn't for our friend at the dealership I can't image the trouble I would have trying to get the two problems i have had taken care off, looks like you had rough time with your experiences. Glad it worked out in the end for you.

I have been running dealership Fixed Ops for ever, Just remember one thing, I make mistakes everyday just like you guys do, a mistake on a spreadsheet, mis adding something etc... is no different than a Tech missing something, Most Tech errors are not intentional as the mistakes You and I make daily are not.

Granted, we all make mistakes: but why try to cover it up or pretend it didn't happen and play stupid? Be a grown up and admit you made a mistake, take responsibility and keep you coustomer safe and happy, they are more likely to return. In the auto field you have one chance to satisfy your coustomer, you may not get a second chance.

I'm from the south so the pic works well for me. OR sorry as a southerner might say that right there be hot.

missing something is one thing but covering it up is another. in both cases the customer should have been told or his servic manager and then the issue corrected before it was given back to the customer.

A simple hey boss I messed up a 5 dollor part can I replace it or lets order a new one could have cost a seized up motor or with the PS pump issue and accident or body harm.

My point exactly, in my case the sending unit was a $50 part, and we all know how the dealership boost the price, so they probably got it for $10-$20 bucks, how hard would it have been to own up to it, and replace it.

My wife asked me what I thought would be a good set of breast for her to get when she gets a little work done (after 2 kids and a surgery, her top side isn't what it once was) The first pic I showed her was that one. get those and I will be a Hap-Happy Man.:dunno: What! I'm not shallow! No, really I'm not.:firedevil

I got her first one for christmas and now she is hooked on getting inked, she has 5 more planned. I've created a monster. Oh well she still won't have as many as me.

Guys with tats no matter the layout or what it is looks fine Tats on ladies really need to plan them out or they just look trashy. I like the side ones that run off the shoulder down side and rounded out on a nice butt. O man COLD WATER COLD WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't agree with you more. I told her to place them so that they could be covered for a proffesional job or for formal situations and pick a design that will always look good/sexy. Unlike my nephew who has them up his neck and the look like gang tats, and can't get a job to save his life because of them.

Well put! At least the OP knows someone who does care about his product.

One guy I know has been in the trade for a few decades. He is ASE certified for just about everything (I think). He lost one long term job, interviewed at a local dealership and declined that position. He told me they were "part hangers", doing what the computers told them, often times with no result. I guess you could summarize it as maintaining time standards while making mistakes.

He teaches now. He guides diagnostics and troubleshooting, hardly gets dirty. He really enjoys that.

I thought that one at a time was kinda an odd way to do that.
Until I read the part about getting inked.....

Which was really good to know you were talking about tats and not tits when I got to the "she has 5 more planned" line......

It's the latest trend, didn't you ever see "Total Recall"?

Is that like the "Chuck Norris Fact" where Lance Armstrong challenged Chuck to a "Who has more testicles" contest? And Chuck won? By five?!?

:twak: :laugh3:
