Alright, alright I take it back, but just a little.

Just want to say thanks to Opie and Phil for putting the cage in the raffle.
Jeff, Gar, and the guy that cut the plates (forgot his name) for helping out.
Jeff for the company during the 7-hour drive from the OC to Benicia and back.
Larry for opening his house to two complete strangers for the weekend.
OK, Bryan, too, he DID help clean up and handed me a tape measure once AND took the group photo.

Your welcome bro, glad you made it home safe. Can ya send me a PM with the info on that off road trailer you mentioned?

Thanks,
Gar

My friend's Bryan and Max took care of that. Bryan was also the one who dropped off the propane heaters :guitar:

Buy some raffle tickets at SierraFest and have a winning ticket

Take one fairly unmolested Jeep

Some tube

A tube bender

A welder

a couple of guys in monkey suits

have a friend stop by (can you guess who?)

and you'll end up with something like this

interesting roof design.
what's the advantage of the top spreaders being like that as opposed to going from the corners in towards the middle?
looks pretty good though!
any more pics?

The thought is a little more support for the halo bar over the top of the windshield.

Click on one of the pics. It will take you to the Webshots album.

I'll take some better interior pics tomorrow.

sweet!

I had a great time Stephen! Thanks for making the drive up here!:gee:

you ought to make a tech thread in Ad Fab so people can search and find it :shhh:

Awesome. I'ld be happy to let you get rid of any other extra tube on my jeep :D

So I just have to ask why flip the top V's?

This seems to miss the intersection idea, there is none on the top of the a-piller, and it also has no intersection on the front or rear at the center of the rig where the V's come together.

Seems like this design would have better intersections, support maximum impact, and not shear:

(sorry for the bad photochop, not much time to play today)

Not trying to rag on it, looks better then any exo-cage I ever built. Just my thoughts, if it was mine I would chop out the 2 V's and flip them for much better intersection points, and it would also put a LOT more triangulation into the design.

I asked the same thing...
he said it was to support the bar over the windshield...
it makes sense but it doesn't seem worth it to me to flip them like that.
