BITD BWDC in-car 1719

25 with those tires gets broken wheels. I had a set too, but wasn't going to test them in a race. I wont run those period.

I was real hesitant to run them as well but GT has been very generous to my team this season so i did.. If i was up in points like you guys it may have been a different story.

What kind of wheels are you guys having issues with? Luckily, our Spec wheels are forged Alcoa's and are strong as heck

I used to break american racing wheels a lot. Now I run Racelines, haven't broken one yet! The tires that they were testing were a little on the thin side. I ran Grabbers and was surprisingly impressed with the way they held up and hooked up.

I love the Grabbers, they are a awesome tire. I am surprised that you are having good luck with Raceline, I sell quite a few but I always worry about the quality of the Chinese wheels.

Starting two at a time is great,.. for the fans. Admittedly, the "spectacle"(as the Europeans refer to it) is all for the fans. Still, not too hot on the side by side start(from an "in-car" perspective)

Gotta' give them a break on comments pulled from in-car audio. You'll NEVER get,"Why,... Did you see that brilliant move those fine gentlemen made? Amazing!" I don't care what move they pull. The in-car audio is going to be something like,"Son of a B"""h! A**hole!"

Man that is crazy i co drove in our class 1 and were constantly calling corners and turns. all i heard in that was this guy is pissing me off. lol but i guess at 100mph it is alot different

I guess we are all going to go back to breaking wheels then. That sucks. We had the same luck with American wheels - most of our flats were wheel failures. I can't believe Clive is mandating them next year.

I don't have a problem with the mandate, and yes i was in the early workings of a deal with method wheels.. To me Clive is doing what he feels is best for the majority of the racers and if a few teams are unhappy so be it.. He has made Jeepspeed work for going into its 11 season and has been racing for longer then most of us have been alive. I have not always been a fan of his decisions either but on this and the tires i am.

What about the teams like us that have spent countless hours acquiring a sponsor, and have a commitment for the 2011 season to run their wheels? What about the commitment that Jeepspeed made to Raceline? The whole deal seems pretty screwed to me. On top of that, we have to pick from only two wheels out of the entire AR lineup.

I completely understand sponsor commitments.. but on the other side what about the other 85% of jeepspeed teams that are not as fortunate as DJR and NRT that can get almost no help from sponsors? There are very few teams that have the contacts you or I have.

Clive addressed the Raceline thing at the awards meeting.. They never delivered and he says they were fine with the decision. I cant say if that is the case or not. The way i understand the mandate is teams must run AR wheels. I didnt hear you had to run one of the two wheels. The way i understood it was that was what they wanted to give away but you could run any AR product including the off shoot brands owned by AR. I may have heard incorrectly but thats how i understand the rule.. I dont want to run either of the wheels they showed either..

Just because the smaller teams don't have any sponsors, doesn't mean they are not capable of having them. Our team spends a lot of time calling on potential sponsors, finding out who to talk to, etc. The most important thing is going to the events where the companies are, getting familiar with them over time, to where they know who you are by name. It's called building a relationship with them. They need to go to the Offraod Expo's SEMA shows, go their companies, ask questions, etc. If they are not willing to invest the time to do this, they don't deserve to have sponsors or freebies.

I know this trust me.. But it helps when you work in the industry to make those contacts.. If you have a regular job that doesn't involve the off road after market it is harder but it still can be done. The point im trying to make is its better for JS to attract new comers and deals like this helps. the more teams racing the better the payback

The whole thing just smells. First we are told that the General deal will fund the series for the next 3 years. Now the wheel deal will carry us through the next 3 years. So was there misinformation about the tire deal supporting the series, or has this just become a convenient excuse for mandating a part? And we have yet to see ANY payback information. If they are trying to help as many teams as they can to grow the series, then let the sponsored teams run what they have and give the Generals and Americans to the teams that aren't sponsored. Seems that more teams would benefit that way. Then what about the teams that are flying the General banner...I'm sure they are getting way more than 6 tires per season, so why should they be able to benefit from a tire sponsor when the rest of us can't?

When I started racing Jeepspeed, BFG's were the mandatory tire. We were told every Jeepspeed racer had to buy them at racer pricing and BFG could not give free tires or sponsorships to Jeepspeed racers to keep things fair and even. I appreciated that it was fair for everyone.

Not sure who's getting what these days though. I think the mandatory ATX wheel deal just compounds my personal frustration. My car won't probably be done until 2012 - halfway through the General Tire/ATX program. My race car program is being built on such a small budget, and it was really helping when I could score a deal on used wheels or tires, but now I will have to add new tires and wheels to my car build budget.

Ultimately I know Clive has the Jeepspeed series best interest in mind. I look forward to getting back out there again, I just hope expenses like these don't continue to grow.

I don't understand your logic... Has Clive ever ripped you off? I argee that he has made deals that he personally benefited from but jeepspeed is a business and he is the owner. The General deal made it possible to keep the series going and the American Racing has made it even easier.

I was one of the teams that had a deal with General with out jeepspeed. This deal Has taken me from about 30 tires last season to 6 this season but I'm cool with that because i believe it is for the best for the class.. We are not getting any more tires then the next team and neither are the other two teams that were with GT last season

I would like to see the payback info too..
